Default Bought Diastix by accident, but...

Hi...I am so new here, but have been LCing for almost a year. (I did majorly blow it during the holidays, but am back on track now.)

My delimma is that I thought I bought Ketostix today, but when I got home...I realized that I had bought Diastix. Well, they were already opened, so I used one. It turned brown...the highest color! Now, it says on there that being in Ketosis (I definately am) can alter the color of the Diastix. I figured you guys must know something about all this.

I had a high NOT fasting glucose of 180 last June, then retook it fasting (after losing 30 lbs) and it was 104. I am scheduled for a physical in May. Should I go in sooner? I do have a family history of diabetes. I feel kind of scared and would really appreciate any insight on those stix.

BTW...I did recheck twice and they are still browm...my ketones are the darkest purple!

I use the diastix, no matter what my ketone level is none to large the other little square is always turqoise.

Why not give your doc a call and let them know what's going on.

Default RE: Diastix

Well...just checked it again...it was light green! This is so wierd. I guess I will have to look for a new doctor. I have just been seeing my OB/GYN cos I haven't had any problems. I think I will check the strips a few more times and check thru my provider book for a Endo Dr.

Thank you sooo much for your speedy and thoughtful reply.

BTW NawChem......I noticed you were posting about palpatation problems....I started taking potassium 99 twice a day and the palpations went away for me! It is in the Atkins book...if you have it. Thanks again!
