Default Thickening Agent - Arrowroot

Hi
Does anyone know what arrowroot is and if it is actually suitable for lowcarb thickening agent and how many carbs it has in it? I use it instead of flour or cornstarch in thickening up gravys and sauces etc.

Default Thanks!

Thanks Judy for that information. Nice to know how many carbs that is. I will have to look up and see if it is less carbs per tablesploon than flour or cornstarch.
Many thanks
