Default How soon did you stall?

I'm just wondering....how soon did you stall when you started this WOL? I've been on a little over a week and I've lost 5 pounds. I'm happy about that, but I haven't lost a pound in about 3-4 days. I know that ya'll have heard this same story a billion times....but I was just wondering how soon your stall came.

I probable need to add more fat...or drink more water...with the weather being so pretty, I'm outside and eating side-tracks me. Plus, I'm still not that hungry...(maybe the whoosh fairy will come here)

Well, since an "official" stall is where you don't lose weight or inches in a period of 4-6 weeks, I can say I haven't had one in the 6 months I have been on Atkins. However, I have had periods where the scale would not move for 2 or 3 weeks. The first slow down in weight loss occurred for me right after induction and I was terrified that I had done something wrong and this would no longer work. Then I read here where that was normal and the scale did finally start to move again after a week or so.

I also seem to slow down when I get to weights that I had been at previously in my life for fairly long periods of time. For example, I was at 140 for about two years or so in the past, so when I hit 140 this time-I stayed there for 3 or 3 and 1/2 weeks before the scale would move. During this time, I didn't lose a whole lot in inches, either. Seems my body just decided to hang out for a while.

I have noted that these last 10 pounds are VERY slow to go. I am averaging about 3 pounds a month right now and expect that it might be even slower the closer I get to goal. I looked at fitday and in the last month, I am only averaging about a 1/4 pound a week.

I seemed to have stopped losing on the scale on the fifth week, which was very hard since TOM had come and gone and normally that is when I lose the best! It was very hard watching the scale bounce up and down to end a week of being very good with nothing to show for it. I tried not to worry to much about it, I have read over and over again on these boards that this happens to a lot of people.

Everyday I told myself I will not step on that scale! Every morning I broke down and stepped on the scale! But today the numbers finally moved, I hope this means my body has finished readjusting, please....

Hi,

I had the same weight for 4 weeks but it was NOT a stall because I was melting anyway - losing inches like crazy.

You are doing just fine and you don't have an awfull lot of pounds to lose.............well, you know.....find those old jeans that didn't fit since 19??
Good luck!

Alina

Hello Goat Lady,
Did you measure? That alot of times is a better gauge than the scale since how much salt in our food can mask a weightloss with water weight gain. Pat S

I have to 2nd the measuring motion - in the past month I've only lost about 4 pounds, but at the same time, I've lost 2 5/8" total inches!

I'm slowly convincing myself to stop depending on the scale so much - which is hard...I'm all about instant gratification - I want to see that number go down! But who cares what I weigh as long as I'm shrinking!!! If I was 200 lbs and a size 2, it wouldn't matter to me!

I lost great at first - went from 215 to 200.5 in 13 days. Then I bounced up and down from 201 to 203 from day 13 to day 23. Yesterday and today I have had small losses again, putting me back where I was a week and a half ago.

Many people have said the third week things slow and that has been my experience. However, it's now week 4 and I'm seeing a downward trend again.

The others are right though, even while I was stalled 10 days I continued to lose inches.

Hang in there. This WOE really does work!

K.

Week 3-9 were no weight loss or I was gaining and losing the same 2-3 lbs. However, even when I was not losing lbs, I was losing inches. After about 20 yrs of almost daily confrontation with the scale, I have finally broke my addiction (and depression when the #s were not right). I weigh myself 1-2 times a week just to see where I am at (probably still out of habit), but look forward to every Monday when I measure myself and see the #s getting smaller.

Thanks for all of the input. I'm not looking forward to a long stall and I'm sure it's gonna happen! Oh well, I guess I'll just have to start a thread and cry to all of you when it happens!

Have a good day!!!
