Unhappy Stomach Virus

I just got a stomach virus about three days ago, and I can't hardl eat ANYTHING without my bowels saying no way. I need to know whether being sick with very little calories and losing water so fast, if I am going to mess up my WOE and hurt my body and make me gain weight. I don't feel like eatin, since I know it will cause adverse reactions in my bowels, and I can't seem to make my stomach stop hurting. I know I am repeating myself, but is it going to make me gain weight if I only eat about 1000 calories a day until this goes away?
I know this is a funny question, but I have to know.
(Isn't this little one gross?)

i wouldn't think it would be a problem. and your losing a lot of water weight (the hard way)
try to stay away from the fat for a while, as that will bother you even more.

Just be concerned about getting healthy again. Your body needs rest more than anything else right now.

Make sure you drink liquids-it is easy to become dehydrated when you are ill. Try drinking some chicken broth. It helps.

Thank You guys for the advice. I am already feeling better thanks to you. I will try the chicken broth, since I can drink water, but not eat anything, without pain. I really appreciate everything.

Do you think you could keep a homemade eggnog down? That would give you some calories and a little nourishment. And chicken broth, of course. Hope you feel better soon.

A few days of low cal isn't likely to do you permanent damage. Do what you must to feel better. Times of illness are not the time to be severe with your body.
Chicken broth is good when you are ill. Also avoid caffeine and spices until your system settles down and make sure that you are getting plenty of water to replace the fluids you are losing through increased bowel activity.
If need be, you can make a low carb version of Gatorade by making Kool-Aid with Splenda and then adding 1/2-1 tsp. of table salt and 1/4 teaspoon of salt substitute (the kind that has potassium chloride) for every quart of liquid to help replace any electrolytes you may be losing. This mixture has 3 grams of carb per 8 fluid ounces if you use the full amount of Splenda to sweeten the Kool-Aid.

I hope you feel better soon.

Listen to your body and give it what you need. A few days of eating what you do not usually eat because you are sick is not going to do any long-term harm. I got a bad stomach virus two weeks ago (up all night vomiting) and the next day all I could eat was plain toast and Sprite (two things I haven't had for eight months). I ate that for a day and then got back to lowcarb. I did have cravings for a few days, but I think that was as much from being starving (I dropped four pounds in one day when I was sick) as from eating the extra carbs. Three of the dropped pounds came back, but one stayed off and two more have left me since then. The important thing when you are sick is to do what you need to speed up your recovery.
