Default Ever get sick during induction?

I am on day 3 of induction and shortly after breakfast this morning I got a terrible migraine. Fugue state, nauseau and killer headache. I am feeling better now but wondering if carb, sugar, diet coke withdrawl did it to me (I did drink some tea with caffeine though so not totally caffeine free)

I too suffer from migraines, but after following Atkins for a while my headaches decreased alot. Probably you're getting caffeine withdrawl headaches now, but once you've eliminated your caffeine addiction your headaches will subside. I know it's hard, but try to tough it out. I promise it will get better and easier in a few days. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.
God Bless,
Amy-Lynne

The same thing happened to me. It was day two or three of the induction, I cant remember. I started feeling extremely weak, upset stomach and hot. The next day I feel pretty good. I felt so bad I was getting a little nervous. I didn't have a headache like you. Hopefully yours will pass.

Hey, I posted a reply to you in another thread but you may not find it so I just wanted to relate it here. For me, day 3 is the worst! I think that's the point, on average, when ketosis is just beginning to kick in and carb withdrawals are at their peak.

Suggestions: Drink LOTS of water, take your vitamins (especially potassium and magnesium), and stick it out.

You should feel better soon!

It seems that most of the time when we are having headaches and upsets during induction that the problem lies with losing so much water weight in the first few days, as well as, in many people, caffeine addition reactions. The body is trying to adjust to significant changes, and unless you are drinking enough water, and many do not, you will have weakness and headache from dehydration as well as the electrolyte imbalance.

So drink enough water, do not over exert and have some patience. It all fades away quickly.

Good Luck!

In the month that I've been on this board, I heard many people complain of the same thing. Lucky for me, I haven't had any withdrawal symptoms like headaches or weakness. I don't drink coffee or caffeine sodas, so that may have something to do with it. Hang in there!

I too became sick around day 3 of induction phase. In my case I lost too much water too fast. I had all your symptoms and leg cramps.
The advice mentioned is correct, drink tons of water and take those vitamins.

Thanks,

I have drank quite a bit of water (probably a glass every 1-2 hours) but yesterday I also drank iced tea (mad with half decaf and half green tea) Maybe I drank too much of that in place of water. I am feeling much better now and didn't blow diet even though w/ nausea I craved crackers!

That's one nasty thing about your body entering ketosis...headaches, nausea, the nasty taste in your mouth, and a terrible terrible yearning to pull into every dunkin donuts you pass.

I too felt sick and nauseous by the 3rd 4th day but once that passed it was amazing the amt of energy I had and none of those afternoon lulls.
Stick with it.

I had a problem with headaches at first, but nothing major. MY problem is that I have been ill...TWO COLDS since I started this WOE. I have felt crappy for 3 days now, and the last one was mid January!
I really don't understand this because I am taking my vitamins and other supplements now...and I rarely took them before I started this WOE.
Any one else with this problem??? I am concerned about the med's I am taking as well.

Day 6 for me it was like a fog cleared. Suddenly I felt healthy, clear headed and never bloated again.

Just take it easy, eat well when you are hungry and see how your body responds when it is done detoxing.

I have had a similar problem. I have been LCing for about 3 weeks now. I had a real nasty cold last week that took about a week to develop and I still have slight symptoms of my cold hanging around. Prior to LCing I rarely got colds and they would only last for a few days so it makes me wonder why I am getting colds now. I am talking a multi-vitamin now which I rarely did before and am eating far more veggies that I ever have. During this time I have pretty much hovered around 233-234lbs and haven't lost any more weight. Anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it? I am thinking of increasing my carbs a little to see if that helps.

Default Ugh...detox is the WORST!

For me, days 4-7 of induction are the worst. Shakes, sweats, nausea, and just generally feeling yucky. I knew what to expect, though, so purposely planned it for a week when I knew I could be home most of the time and just ride it out. Once you get through the initial detox, you'll feel MUCH better.
