Default Sugar Alcohol Question

Hi All-
I bought SF candies yeterday. It is sweetened with Splenda, which I thought was great! But then I was putting the info into fitday and I got confused. The nutritional information says that there are 31 carbs for 7 pieces, and 30 are sugar alcohol. Now I looked for the "ols" (malitol etc) and it didnt have any. Just the sucralose (Splenda). So where are the sugar alcohols coming from??

Here are the ingredients...
hydrogenated starch, hydrolysate, cream, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, mono and diglycerides, artificial flavors, citric acid, soya lecithin, sucralose, artificial color.

Just want to make sure these arent really bad for me.

Thanks!
~Michelle

hydrogenated starch, hydrolysate (HSH) is a sugar alcohol, and is also called "maltitol syrup" 30 grams is a whopping dose .. I definitely wouldn't go overboard with these or you may find yourself dashing off to the little girls' room pronto, toot-toot-tooting all the way. And a few dandy cramps for good measure.

Isomalt is the name of another type of sugar alcohol that doesn't end in "ol". Glycerine is technically not a sugar alcohol, but it has similar properties.

Thank you so much Doreen!! I was taken in by the "sweetened with Splenda!". I guess I should read closer. I was only going to allow myself 1 a day anyway...so I should be OK. They are little "chews" and it is a nice change of pace.
