Default sugar, flour or wheat?

I am wondering what the real baddie out of the above 3 food items really is. The thing is, many people have reported losing weight, despite the fact that they consumed a certain amount of sugar during induction, especially in alcohol, as people find that hard to give up. These people, though, did cut out bread completely. Do I come to the conclusion that the components of bread - flour and wheat - or one of them, is the real baddie?I am not advocating limitless use of sugar, but surely the odd spoon now and then in one's morning cup of coffee can't hurt?

If you want to do induction correctly, then use none of the above. Sugar causes an insulin reaction which will make you store the fat you eat. Dr. Atkins recommends Splenda or Sweet and Low-but not Aspartame (like in NutraSweet). Even after induction in OWL and the other phases-sugar is pretty much out. Sugar alcohols are a bit different as they do not (in lots of people, but not all) cause an insulin response.

There are carbs in alcohol-you shouldn't have any on induction either. Induction is only two weeks-certainly you can give up alcohol for two weeks. I think, and I might be wrong-Dr. Atkins does not recommend alcohol in OWL either, but many people do start to consume VERY LIMITED amounts. The alcohol will hit you harder when you do lc. You should add back other foods first. I would rather get my extra carbs from healthy sources-and use the extras as a limited splurge.

All 3 are "baddies". Most alcohol doesn't contain sugar as what sugar was there to begin with is used up in the fermentation process. Alcohol use can also slow down weight loss as the body will burn alcohol for fuel in preference to fat, so if you can continue to consume alcohol and lose weight on a low carb diet, you're the exception rather than the rule.
If you're going to follow Atkins, sugar, flour and wheat are all off limits. As far as I know, there are no low carb plans that allow pure sugar.
