Smile My first week

When I started on Monday I was at 222lbs. I just weighed myself and I have already lost 12 pounds. I love meat, eggs, and cheese so this plan is perfect for me. I got the Atkins book today and started reading it, up to this point I had been going by information I gleaned from sites such as this. I started using fitday.com to keep track, it really helps. I can't wait to get into some recipies, I have had a hard time getting up to 20 grams eating what I've been eating and I know thats important. One thing I have noticed is that usually later in the evenings I start to feel warm, especially my face. Is this normal? Anyway, great to be here and love losing the weight.

Default Hi

Hi PackerRick!

WOW - 12 lbs already! That's awesome! This is a great forum and you will get lots and lots of great tips and things to help you keep focused on the LC way of life. But my one best suggestion is to READ THE BOOK! It's the best way to know exactly what you're doing and why it works.

Keep up the great work and keep us updated!

P.S. Took me two weeks to lose 11 lbs... why do men always lose quicker? *sigh*

Thanks Talon and Conshygirl,

The more I read about the low-carb program, the more I like it.

I now have so much energy, that today I put together my home gym that I had in storage since we moved almost 2 years ago.

Tomorrow I start hitting the weights again.

My next step is finding a grocery store with low carb bread, pancake mix and syrup, and some of the other things I used to eat.

Time to jump over to the other boards.

Welcome to the forum, you are doing great! I really have gotten a lot of help from Fitday.com as well. Glad you found that resource.

Apparently, there are no benefits to going below 20g carbs, and in fact can slow down weightloss. But I totally understand how it can happen at the end of the day, you realize you didn't eat enough carbs.

As far as the warm face? Uh huh, but mine was hot feet. As a *girrlll* I had never experienced warm ANYTHING on my body. So hot feet were certainly a revelation.

It is an artifact of the lipolysis (fat burning) you are experiencing during ketosis....you are burning fat, dude!
