Default my first post..ma would b proud

Hi,

This is my first post. I've been LCing for about two yrs now ,but I have cheated alot and gotten back on the LC band wagon each time. I have lost a grand total of 70 lbs so far. I want to loose at least another 50 lbs. My biggest problem is that i am the only one LCing in my house hold. MY wife is bed ridden and has been for 2 yrs.(it's a long story) she doesn't eat enough but when she does she wants carbs, carbs and more carbs. Since she has lost too much weight i am inclined to get her what ever she wants to get her to gain back some lbs. I would gladly give her some of mine if I could. I have a real hard time resisting the carbs. She always leaves some on her plate and I find myself snitching what is left. As we speak I am waiting for a cake to cool so that i can frost it for her. If it were'nt for the hour of walking I do a day I think I would of gained back all of my weight. I have been pretty good this week though. I have barely snitched at all and I can't wait to weigh myself tomorrow to see if I lost at all. ( i always weigh sat morn) I don't know exactly what i'm asking. I need some tips on how to have more impulse control and not snitch my wifes food. Oh BTW divorce is not an option. lol

Hi Jon,

Welcome. I wish I had some great advice, but I don't. I am an expert in snitching other people's food -- I put on quite a few pounds over the years by finishing what my children left on their plates! However, once I got into low carbing and my body was firmly in ketosis, the desire to cheat by snitching other people's food greatly diminished. I wish I knew how to make that happen for you.

One thing I do that helps is to put all the food away immediately after dinner. I'm also the only one in my family low carbing (my husband and two teenagers are not overweight) and if their high carb goodies sit out I worry they will be too tempting.

Good luck to you.

Hi there,

I am surrounded by temptation, my son and husband demand carbs and I give it to them. Most times it dosent bother me but once in a while that temptation demon is there. Most nights I make french fries for my son, if I'm hungry I find myself almost popping one in my mouth without realizing it. What I've been doing lately to combat that is putting out a few olives for myself, that way I can savour the salty olive, and roll the pit around for quite a few minutes afterwards, so if my mouth is busy with the olive no chips will enter it I try to have a snack before I start making dinner for them, there is a tv show that I alwayw watch just before I have to prepare dinner, so I have started having a protein/fat snack then and it takes t he edge off then and with olive in mouth I go forth to feed the family.

I am in a similar predicament. Dh has never had a weight problem. He is a big meat eater but he loves noodles, potatoes, corn and rolls with it. I usually eat something at the same time he does so that I am not just watching him. I try to make enough for only that meal (my problem is leftovers). If he leaves a little bit left over sometimes it goes down the garbage disposal But I figure its better to waste a little food down the drain instead of going on me.

Good Luck I know how hard it can be.

Thumbs up Wow!!

Congrats on the weight loss!! I'm jealous!!
About your question .....I wonder if just rethinking what you wrote........." my wife lost a lot of weight and wants high carb foods" and the fact that you do not want to gain weight, so ......you do not want high carb foods, makes you kinda see you answered your own question. Just keep reminding yourself that, over and over. I must say, it must be hard smelling cakes baking and such!! You are doing terrific!!
