It says that there are 3 grams of carbs in walnuts and 3 grams of fiber. Can I eat these unlimited?

Not true numbers (they may have already removed the fiber from their count).

Fitday count for 14 halves (1 oz)

Total Carbohydrate 3.89g
Dietary Fiber 1.9g

They are a great lc nut though ... others are pecans and macadamian nuts!

Also remember that while you don't have to count calories on Atkins, calories do count. If you totally pig out on nuts (some people have trouble eating just a few of them), it will slow or stall your weight loss. Atkins says to eat until you are full, but then to stop. Some people have trouble doing that with nuts.

Nuts are not unlimited - actually, they can stall you out big time (as I think they have done to me so I have stopped eating nuts for the time being to see if the scale moves again). You should limit your nut consumption to 1 oz per day at most. Nuts are great source of fat but yes, they are high in calories and you still need to watch the calories.

Default Nuts!

I absolutely agree. I became a bit careless with nuts and noticed an immediate slowdown on the scale. I now limit them to an occasional treat with a drink on the weekend.

I gained 2 lbs eating macadamia nuts. Man, was I mad at myself. "Unlimited" and "nuts" don't go hand in hand.

I agree about macadamia nuts -- its probably the only food I consume now that I have trouble stopping.

And when I add that consumption into Fitday, it's the highest calorie consumption of the day.

I have no trouble NOT eating a particular food, I just cut it out -- but moderation is a problem, and I just can't seem to eat them in moderation -- I think they have to go for now.

FYI - - I cut out nuts completely and whoosh 2 lbs gone today. Aside from that and drinking more water, nothing else change in the last few days so I think nuts were my problem. Cut it out and see what happens...you may be surprised.

Oh goodness! If I get started on Mac nuts, I just cannot stop! I'll go through a whole jar by myself in one sitting. My boyfriend would stock up like $30 worth and keep it in the pantry, and when he goes for some, they'd all be gone! He finally stopped stocking them up IN THE HOUSE. The other day, I was going through his car and found a whole box of them in the trunk. I guess he's hiding them from me (what a sweetie!) LOL. I haven't had any since I've started induction, and thankfully haven't had any craving for it either, so I guess that's good I'll have to keep in mind what everybody said about nuts and stalls too. Thanks

I just discovered something else interesting about nuts.

I was eating raw almonds and loving them, but I have discovered that they seem to be the source of an annoying side effect.

My eyes have beeen so extremely dry that if I fall asleep for 5 minutes in the afternoon, I can't open my eyes again. They totally dry out and I must move them in the sockets to lubricate them enough to open them. I know it is not the house that is dry because DH puts 5 gallons of water into the downstairs humidifier every night and it is next to my chair.

What I discovered is that this is coming from the almonds. When I ran out of almonds, my eyes were no longer dry. When I started to eat them again, the dryness returned.

I must be allergic to almonds! What a discovery.

I think that with nuts as well as anything else you have to eat them in moderation if you're going to eat them at all. When I buy a bag of macadamias or any other nut, for that matter, I immediately weigh out 1 oz portions and put them in the little snack baggies. That way when I want some nuts I can grab a bag and know that I'm not going to go overboard. I added nuts right after induction and have seen a steady loss. You have to drink a lot of water though to make sure you don't retain water from the salt.

I love nuts, but I just can't eat them at all! I come to a dead stop!
Also, the salt is bad for me.
Too bad too, because the fiber in the nuts would be great for THAT OTHER problem!
