Default New kid on the block

Hi everyone.....I'm new to Atkins. I started "low-carbing" 3 weeks ago after my pastor lost 9 pounds in about a week by doing his own brand of low-carb. I initially started with the Grapefuit diet but quit after a weak because of what the grapefruit was doing to my stomach. Basically, I just dropped the grapefruit and kept the rest of the diet which was pretty much low carb. I managed to lose 12 pounds in 2 weeks, but they've started creeping back again. I was really, really good until yesterday when I found a pecan praline that I had bought at a Mexican food resturaunt the day before starting the GF diet....so, being the weak-minded individual that I am, I ate it. But I had started a slow gain before that, so I can't lay all my problems off on that poor, innocent piece of pure sugar.

At any rate....didn't mean to bore y'all. I'm planning on starting up on Atkins in earnest on Monday, 1/27. I'm looking forward to checking out the website for all the info I can get.

Best to you all!

Thumbs up Welcome

Hi Thininside

Welcome to this forum. Really like your user name. I think we all feel like that and want to get there.

Every success in starting Atkins on Monday. I hope that you have got the book and read it. It is a great way of life and although you may go up and down a bit during the first week, mentally speaking, after that it will be all plain sailing. As you have lost quite a few pounds recently on the grapefruit diet do not look for large losses again next week. Your body can only loose fat so fast.

Every success and may you reach your goal.

Wink Thanks Little Ann

I appreciate your encouragement and well wishes. Naturally, I want the weight to be gone tomorrow but I know that's not gonna happen.

I have the DANDR and am in the process of reading it. I've read through the four phases of the program and they seem like they will work for me. I may be in Induction for a very long time as I still have a ways to go

Thanks again........and best to you, too!

Red face This is me snoozing for a year, too!

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm definitely starting tomorrow. I've had enough of being fat, tired, and looking old and worn out. I'm only 43 for cryin' out loud!
