Default Are these foods OK ?

Gday all,

does anyone know if Cherios (those sort of mini-hotdogs in Australia) are OK ? I've been snacking on them thinking they'd be OK.

What about Low Joule Tomato Sauce (says it's got Saccarin in it).

Any help would be great !

cheers,

Adam

The 'little boys' (Australian joke) may contain some carbs as they'll have fillers in, not just meat. You might wanna find a packet in the supermarket and check out the carb content, then include it in your daily carb count.

One of my new found snacks is a cheese slice (mmm ... nice and plasticky), rolled up with some hot chili salami. Soo good.

I don't eat sauces very often, unless I make them myself, but I do throw a little Heinz low joule tomato sauce into a more complex sauce (like for bolognese) now and again. As long as you count the carbs, you should be OK.

To be a successful low-carber, get a magnifying glass and become a Reader of Labels. Don't assume that something should be OK or that it sounds alright.

Tomatoes are really a fruit so that's why they are fairly high in carbs & not for Induction. Read the list of ingredients: sugar in any form should be far down the list. Also starches, bread crumbs & fillers.

Tomatoes ARE permitted for Induction, both in raw and cooked forms, if properly counted. (pg 126 of the red cover version)

Thanks for the updated information Freydis. That is a change from the editions I am most familiar with. Even Atkins changes some of his ideas as new research comes in.

I know what you mean. I've read three versions: original, white cover new and red cover new. I'm glad he changes with new information. I respect a doctor that can change his mind.
