I am looking at my PP book and at the carb charts and must have missed something because I am confused about when it says "unlimited" in the 10g and above columns.

Hi! Which chart is this, and which book: PP Lifeplan, or the old PP?

I don't have that edition. Must be PP, and I have PPLP.

(note to self: keep an eye out for a used copy of PP )

Hi there......

I have a copy of the book you are referring to, and though I'm not following PP, I do have an opinion about this, after reading through and trying to find their answer.

I noticed that generally, when it says unlimited, you'd be eating a huge quantity of food to get to that. For example, 5 cups of boiled chopped broccoli = 20 grams ECC. To get 25 grams ECC, they list "unlimited" as the quantity. Could anybody really eat more than 5 cups of boiled chopped broccoli PLUS all of the protein they'd be required to have if following PP recommendations??

So, I suspect that it's either an error or the Eades don't think anyone is going to be able to eat enough of the veggie that's rated unlimited to cause concern about the carb count.

JMHO

Default Unlimited

I am in the process of reading 'Protein Power.' On page 110 it says:

"You will also note that at the higher levels of carbohydrate per portion--where you will be in maintenance--a number of foods are listed as "unlimited." This means that reaching that carbohydrate level in a single serving would give you an amount too large for anyone to consume. In these cases, refer to the lower carbohydrate levels for that food to see how many grams a more realistically sized portion contains."

How nice that Marlaine is right on common sense and Frannie provided the Eades exact answer. That's the kind of cooperation this board brings. And now we know that Gretchen can go ahead and enjoy eating 2-5 cups of raw broccoli or 5 cups of cooked and still be under 20 gm of carbs.
