Default atkins and getting sick

I have done the atkins before and everytime I start to lose weight I end up sicker than you would believe. I have done this 3 different times.Does anyone know why this happerns?

Also is it safe to start a low carb diet while trying to get pg? I am thinking of trying to get pg but I am also concerned about my weight at the present time. I am 25 to 30 lbs to my goal weight but I am not really too overweight. I really don't want to lose all the way down to 125 and then get pg and then have to try to keep all the weight from taking over my bod.

Does anyone have any suggestions of a beginner fitness routine?
Any help would be appreciated!!

Thank you,
swingo1

You don't mention how you got sick when you tried before. Most people get a headache, often for several days. Some get intestingal upset of various kinds. Rare last even the full two weeks. I had a severe headache day 1 (had already gotten myself off caffeine, and I think that helped), felt really crappy (and craving!) the first 4-5 days, and had one episode of what I figure was low blood sugar (I had some nuts and felt better). Each person is different in how they react. Have you been able to get thru the full 2 weeks of inducion? I feel induction is very important....even if you aren't following Atkins....since it clears out your system. It gets your blood sugar down, gets rid of your cravings, and most importantly (to me) makes you aware of every thing you put in your mouth.

Dr A only recomends maintenance when pregnant, nothign is mentioned about during attempts (not that I saw anyway) (www.atkinscenter.com). Personally, I'd talk to the doc....but I can't see any reason why it would be detrimental....as long as you kept your carbs where they should be...and got sufficient calories!

I have an exercise routine that I (try to ) follow:
Stationary bike ~ 20 mph with "spurts" to 30+ mph for one min out of each five. Try to do this every other day....at least 3-4 times/week.
Weights: Right now I'm taking it slow and easy because of a recent injury...so I do just 1 set for each body part....and I'm keeping the weight low. When I'm back to normal, I'll do 5 sets for each body part....alternating upper and lower body, 3 times/week.

Hope this helps! Welcome to the forum. feel free to post anytime for questions or support!

Cindy

Cindy thanks for the reply.
Each time I do this diet I end up with massive flu like symptoms, throwing up, diarreah (sp?), headache and chills, hot flashes all kinds of nasty stuff. It usually happens anywhere from my 5th to 10th day. The first time I had been on the diet for 4 weeks and I had done so great. When I got so sick I couldn't handle staying on the diet, so I was eating regular food once I was feeling better and I didn't gain any weight and then all of a sudden I ballooned out and now I am humiliated. I went to a store today and tried on clothes, I sat in the dressing room and cried. I have never felt so fat. Not even when I was pg.
Really, thank you for your reply! It will help me stay on my diet knowing that there are great people like you that will be out there when I have questions.
Thank you,
swingo1
