Default Hello, I am Mama Cass and I am a low-carber...

I've tried Atkins twice before and I didn't lose any weight on induction, inches either that I could tell, and then birthday parties and holidays came up and I gave up. I'm trying again.
I have a lot of weight to lose and I've been in a serious depression for months about an external issue over which I have no control, so exercise is very hard for me right now.

In reading a few low-carb websites recently I think I can see a couple of mistakes I made the last two times that I'm not repeating this time. I ate foods with malitol (?) or alcohol sugars because I thought they didn't raise blood sugar, but now I've read that this isn't true for some people, and I suspect I may be one of those people.

I also did not give up the coffee, and I did that this time. Still, it's been a week and not a single pound has dropped.

Um, nitro, I'm a sahm with seven kids, grade school through adult. I like reading. I have a great family. I don't really know what else to say.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

There's alot of us struggling with a slow scale. It's OK in the long run, since we really need to learn a way of eating for life, not just a quick loss (this is NEVER the case with me!). If you don't have the DANDR book, you should pick up a copy because it really gives all the reasons and details that you might need to refer to as you go along.

There are lots of good threads and groups here - I'm sure you'll find some that fit you if you look around. Also, if you start a journal, you can keep track of your food and progress, and people get to "talk" to you.

I'm also a sahm with 2 boys - middle school and grade school. Wouldn't trade it for the world!

Good luck and keep trying!
