I was thinking links involving the drug idustry would be the easieist, but I am having trouble finding any infomrmation on this. Not even google.com can find info.

I am convinced that lobbyists for some industry out there must influence government studies on diet. Basically trying to bash the low carb diets in order to continue their sale of dietary products("magic pills" or whatever) or diet programs (Slim Fast).

Are there any articles and/or groups which can prove this with eveidence? Links are appreciated.

I doubt that the companies who manufacture "slim fast" or other slimming products would try to discredit low carb. Why should they care. If the low carb movement ever becomes mainstream that will just give them an extra market to exploit. They would only market low-carb "slim fast".

However some industries would have a lot to loose if the low carb movement would gain too much of a foot hold. Those who rely heavily on cheap carbs to generate high profits.

One of the newsletters I received from the Atkins site said that the current food pyramid was recently re-endorsed by the government - due to pressure from M&M Mars. The current pyramid permits up to 25% of daily calories to come from sugar.
