Question Chicken Wings

Hi all...

I'm sure this question has been asked countless times, but I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. (I even tried Fitday)

Can anyone tell me if BBQ or hot chicken wings are off limits for a LCer? I love wings and know the meat, itself, is fine. But, I'm sure the hot sauce is probably questionable.

I love Chili's boneless spicy wings and most wings you can get at a bar. Does anyone know the damage on these?

Thanks,

Mosaic4

I checked my bottle of Frank's Red Hot Sauce just to be sure, but it lists the carb count as 0 grams per teaspoon. I often make Buffalo wings with this sauce (no breading, of course) and really enjoy them. The only caution I would give about eating hot wings at a restaurant is to make sure that they are not breaded and you can always ask if there is sugar in the sauce.
BBQ sauce, on the other hand, is loaded with carbs; many of them at up to 16 grams of carb per Tablespoon mostly coming from corn syrup or sugar.
As long as the hot wings aren't breaded...I'd say enjoy! Hey...Bleu cheese dressing for dipping them in is also legal.

Mosaic4 -

Like Lisa said, BBQ sauced is LOADED with sugars. I was actually at a party yesterday, they were having a big BBQ roast on the grill (using BBQ sauce) and I glanced at the bottle and the first ingredient was Corn Syrup - so made dinner a little difficult.

Oh well - thankfully Hot wings (no breaded) are legal !
