Unhappy I'm Sick

UGGH... got a case of the common cold. I feel pretty run down, and tired. I also feel VERY hungry, however nothing seems to satisfy. Any advice from those of you who have made it through a cold.

Hi acipenser,

I just got over being sick.
Ugh is right.

Two things basically appealed to me while ill:
Cottage cheese & I made a soup with egg.

The Soup:
I took two cups of water & added two boullion cubes & brought to a boil. I added a dash of soy sauce. I beat an egg & added it to the broth when the broth was boiling. I cooked the egg in the soup for a minute & then it was ready. I sprinkled some grated parmesan on top.
It helped!
You could also make a smaller one cup serving & omit the grated cheese.

Get plenty of rest & drink your water.
Feel better soon!

Chicken soup is great for colds - hot fluid & the steam from it help break up congestion. The spices help you cough and heat you up to sweat out the cold. Lots of good effects.

I add a bit of butter and a lot of Parmesan cheese to mine to make a thicker soup. Diced veggies or chopped cooked chicken make a good meal when you are under the weather. Keep up your fluids of all kinds to help your body fight the virus.

Personally, I increase my Vitamin C when I have a cold and take Echinacea and Zinc lozenges. Ask at your pharmacy or health food store.

Get well soon.
