Default Starch in medication

I'm sorry if this is the wrong section to be posting. I've recently come down with an awful ear infection and the medication I've been prescribed is Amoxycillin capsules.

I've checked the inactive ingredients, which are: magnesium stearate, starch, gelatin, erythrosin (E127), quinoline yellow (E104), titanium dioxide (E171), red iron oxide (E172). And I'm concerned about the starch in them. Does it need to contain starch for any particular reason, and will the amount affect me at all?

Also, what is recommended from everyone to help boost your immune system?

Thanks. It's much, much appreciated.

I would not worry about the starch.

To boost your immune system first you take a good "mega" multivitamin and omega 3s. Since you have your weight under control - you probably do not need more chromium.

For immune function, antioxidants are usually suggested. Then this article does a great job of describing what else you can do:

Default Take the pills

Bad ear infections will do you much more harm than even stalling for a little bit. Unless you need to be very thin and deaf. there's just not that much starch in there--look at the size of the pill.

Echineacea can help with infection resistance, as can Vitamin C. Do you know how you got the infection? Be more careful doing whatever it was, if you do.

the starch is probably to help "glue" the pill together. shouldn't be enough to hurt you, but I'm wondering why you have an ear infection on this diet. I know that sounds like a weird question, but I've never been so healthy in my life as when I stick to low carb. No infections of any kind. Just wondering...that's all.

Oh, this isn't half as bad as I usually get it. I caught a cold from someone I work with and it's practically routine that whenever I catch a virus, an ear infection surely follows. It's just something I've always suffered with. But I haven't had a cold in MONTHS and my ear definitely isn't as bad as it was when previously ill and feeding myself with comfort food like tubs of ice cream. Albeit, now I'm stuck inside wrapped in a blanket, Haagen Daaz Strawberry Cheesecake cravings are kicking in. But I think I'd prefer to stay slim.

Cheers for the replies and helpful link! I'll try not to fret about the tiny amount of starch in the capsules.
