Talking First time here

Hi everyone, I stumbled on this site by accident. Am so happy to have found you guys. About 7 years ago I started to gain weight when I developed a siatica problem and stopped all forms of excercise and also hit menopause at the same time.

I have gained 50 pounds and am at my wits end. I used to ski every weekend so could eat anything I wanted. Now I know that I can't do that any more. I can only excercise very mildly, no
aerobics etc. Even the bike is out. Sit ups and upper body are ok.

I'm looking forward to getting started. Can someone tell me what CKD means? Also, How do I post my Picture in my profile in the stats area? Thanks alot Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Can't help you with the questions you asked, (I'm a relative newbie, too) but I just wanted to say "Welcome !" to a fellow Torontonian.

Is this your first time doing Low Carb? I've been doing LC (Atkins) for about 2 months--my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I know exactly what you mean about being at your wits end. I knew I had to do something, but I just couldn't face the thought of another low fat failure diet.

By the way, be sure and register at http://www.fitday.com
It's a great help in keeping track of the fat, protein and carbs in the food you eat. Also, check out "Hot Links" here in the
forum for scads of information.

Good eating...

judy

Talking Thanks for advice

Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it's going. This is such and informative site. My brother is diabetic so I'll tell him about it.
Goodnight and bye for now. Nancy

Hi!

I also am new at this, but am amazed at how much better I feel already, and am able to start exercising alittle now.

Menopause really hit me hard, the weight was going on, and so much harder to get off. It seemed like I found myself not wanting to try anymore, as I felt I would just fail again .

have a much better attitude now, and this forum I read every night and find it so helpful. Helps keep a positive attitude, and you know others are there to help you if need be.

Now, if I could just get excited about exercising!!!!!

Best of luck to you, and never give up!!

Sandy
