Well, I actually started yesterday, so I will put that down as well.

7/30/50--rode exercise bike 2 times for 15 min and a total of 3 miles
Did some exercises with 3 pound weights.

7/31/05--So far today I have ridden for 15/3. I hope to do two more sets today.
2:30 p.m. I did 16.05/3. This time I clocked it. I wanted to see exactly how I am doing.

Default Day 3!!!

Aug 1, 2005

Well it's day 3. I woke up feeling really positive.

4:15 a.m.:

15.25/3 miles

3:30 p.m. :

15min/3miles

10:00 p.m.:

15/3

Today has been particullary hard on me getting my exercise in. My knee is killing me. I went to the ER to have it checked out. They put me in an immobilizer, but I took it off long enough to ride. I HAVE to do this. I got my water allowance in today!!!!

I didn't do any weights today.

Go Vols

Default Day 4!!!!!

Well, it has been 4 days and I have done such a good job. Tooting my horn here. Well it is my journal, so I guess that is ok.

4:00 a.m. 15/3

7:00 p.m. 15/3

10:00 p.m. 15/3

I feel so upbeat about this. I just wish my knee didn't hurt so much. I took a pain pill so maybe the pain will subside.

Default Day 5

I was up and at em at 4:15 this a.m. I rode for 17/3.

6:30 p.m. 15/3

I will edit later when I ride again.

It seems to be getting easier. I just can't get over that I can go 3 miles. I realize that it is just an exercise bike and not out on the road. But if any of you knew me, you would know what an accomplishment this is. I have been very very sedentary for the last few years, due to bad knee and overweight issues. My knee is still killing me, but the pain pills help. Now I cant use the bathroom. Which is worse....pain....or no ???

Default Day 6

Up at 4:15 a.m.

4:30 am 15/3

6:00 pm 15/3

Today has been a great day, with the exception of my knee. I worked in the emergency room. Wow!! I admire what the nurses and doctors do there. I don't think that will be my field, though. I really want to be a nurse at a nursing home. I think for me that I will feel needed there. I know that nurses are needed everywhere, but I think this is for me. As a CNA, I am not able to do what I would like to do for these people. I hope I am not setting myself up for a fall, but I truely believe I can do more. I know this isn't gym related, but the thoughts came so here they are.

I will edit later if I do my third bike ride. I really need to get my weights in as well.

Default Day 7

I have ridden 2 times so far today. I will edit later when I do the third ride. I have really had to force myself both times today. But I have succeeded. I forgot to go back and put my third ride in. 17/3. Hooray. One week solid. Three more weeks and it becomes a habit!.

Debby,

Congratulations on your exercise efforts.

If your knee is hurting when you ride the bike, you may want to let it rest for a few days to help it recover.

I had some knee problems from running that got better everytime that I took a bike ride. I could actually feel the pain lesson as I cycled. After a few months, the pain was totally gone. I no longer run as that was what kept causing the knee pain in the first place.

I try to take one day a week off from any formal exercise to let the body recover.

Mike,

Thank you so much. I know the bike isn't causing the pain. I had an MRI and xrays done last week. There is no tears or anything like that. The doctor said it is arthritis. I, believe that eventually the exercise will strenthen it. At least that is what I hope. Do you think one should take a day off of exercising. Hummm that sounds like such a good idea. Debby

Default Day 10

Up and attem at 4:00 a.m.

4:15 a.m. 16/3

7:00 p.m. 16/3

9:30 p.m. 17/3

I just realized tonight that I have been posting the wrong info in myplan. I didn't see there was a place for exercise bicycles. So I put 12-13.9 miles per hour. By doing 3 miles in 15 minutes I felt that was a safe bet. Now I find I was wrong. The difference in calories burned is not that much difference, so I don't know if I will take the time to go back and fix all of them. Also, I think I am doing it vigorous, not moderate. I think 3 miles in 15-17 minutes is pretty good for a beginner. I will sleep on it tonight and make up my mind tomorrow.

For some reason, I am not getting my rides in in 15 minutes like I was at first. I gotta work on that.

I had trouble getting up this a.m. as well. I did get up 4:15 and got in my ride, 16/3 and then layed back down. Woke up late and was almost late for school. A big no no.
Got home from school and took a nap from 2:00-4:30. I rode this p.m. at 5:00. 15/3.
I don't understand this tiredness. Usually I have the energy of a kid when I am on this WOE.
