Exclamation Is body fat really being burned in Ketosis ?

I kave been advised that even though Ketostix are turning purple on a low carb diet (Ketosis), this simply may be dietary fat breaking down into Ketones and that body fat may not be being burned at all, defeating the whole purpose of a low carb weight loss regime. Is this correct ? if so, is there ideal low carb diet to ensure body fat will be burned ?

The ketones spilling over into your urine come from a combination of dietary fat and body fat so, yes, it is possible that all you are seeing is dietary fat but, as it turns out, this is rather unlikely. Read your Atkins book in the chapter on the metabolic advantage. There's also some discussion of this topic in the Low Carb Tips link above.

The proof is in the pudding. Give it an honest and faithful try and see what happens for YOU.

Cheers!

I agree with Bill on this.

You may be seeing some dietary ketone results but if it is only dietary fat being converted to ketones then I have lost 50 pounds of water or something else
