Default Ways to enhance oxygen and its use by the body?

Burning fat takes more oxygen than burning glucose. To ensure that you have a plentiful supply of oxygen, what are some things you can do besides:

-low intensity, long duration vs. high intensity exercise
-yoga and yogic breathing
-amino acid DMG (-dimethylglycine)
-resorting to the countryside or SCUBA tanks?

(And, finally... what about negative aspects - oxidation with oxygen radicals...)

The normal human has more than enough oxygen available. Even during hard exercise, getting enough oxygen to the tissues is not a problem.

It's arguable that anyone with many pounds to lose (who didn't speed-eat to get that way) is not a normal human. And, for instance, I know that I hit an anaerobic threshold in exercise far before so-called normal humans would. So I'm interested in reading up on and considering aspects of how the body uses oxygen, and ways to enhance that, as mentioned.

Ah,

I had misunderstood the thrust of your questions.

You want to improve your aerobic capability. Your body has access to more than enough oxygen through your lungs. It is getting the body to be able to use more oxygen that needs to be improved.

By exercising below the lactic threshold (also called aerobic threshold (AT) and lots of other names) you can increase the size and quantity of your mitochondria (energy production component to cells), increase the density of muscle capillaries and increase the amount of blood the heart can pump.
Lower intensity exercise, below the AT, is the only method of increasing your ability to use oxygen in your muscles. Without increasing the mitochondria and capillaries, having more oxygen available would do no good as your body couldn't use it.

Exercise, followed by recuperation time, is the only way to increase your body's use of the available oxygen.

From Dr Atkins Vita Nutrients page 40

From the above article, It appears that the amount of oxygen available for absorption is dependent upon both the heart and lungs. You can have great lungs but if your circulation is poor ... The problem with most people like us is that they have respiratory problems and circulation/heart problems. But low carb diet fixed both of those for me in months.
