Hi Donna

Just thought I'd stop by and offer some words of encouragement! Looks like Pammie beat me to it though - as usual

I'm glad you're enjoying the feeling of bein healthier! Congratulations on picking a healthy lifestyle and actively working toward it!

Definitely take pictures! There will be times when you're discouraged and feel like you're making made no progress. That's when you *need* the pictures!!!

Best wishes,
Mark

Like Galatia keeps saying (and I agree wholeheartedly), those of us who don't work out in a gym need a little cameraderie to keep us going. I want to be the head cheerleader for us underdogs!

And as I always say, the journey is often more interesting and rewarding than getting to the goal. Stay focused on the goal, but enjoy the road there as well!

Mark

Nothing to report today so far-
I may end up getting that grass mowed after all.
I didn't get to it yesterday-
the grass was too wet while it was cool out & by the time it dried- it was TOO HOT!!!

We'll see!

Starting week 4, I see. You're about to have a whole month done! That's excellent-- you are probably in the habit of it now, and look forward to it. I see you're having a little trouble getting the pictures taken, how about measurements? Have you taken those? It's motivating to chart your progress in pictures and measurements. The first 6 months you'll see some fast results. Keep up the great work!

ooooooooooook!
Just posting my work out this morning.

I done 3 sets of 15 reps each of the following:

Quadriceps:
Universal Leg Extensions

Hamstrings:
Universal Leg Curls

Quad/Hams/Glutes:
Leg Press

Calves:
Calf Raises on Leg Press

Chest:
Incline Dumbbell Press

Back:
Pulldowns
in front with straight handle

Shoulders:
Seated Dumbbell Press

Biceps:
Standing Dumbbell Curls

Triceps:
Pushdowns
with-straight handle

Traps:
Standing Dumbbell Shrugs

Lower-Back:
Hyper-Extensions

The only thing I DIDN'T do- were ABS- so I will do that this evening. I was pushing my time this morning PLUS- after all this- I was like DYING! lol
So I will do my ab work this evening & I'm going to make a real attempt to make time to walk at least a mile this evening.

Wow Donna! You worked everything! You're pretty darn motivated!

Could I make a suggestion though? Most lifters have a routine where they do legs one day, arms another day, abs and back on another day, and shoulders on another day yet.

This is done to prevent overtraining. That's what happens when you tear your muscles down without giving them enough time to repair and recover.

So instead of exercising every body part every day (or even every other day), you rotate things a little. Each body part get hit hard once (maybe twice) per week, and recovers.

I'm not trying to give directions at all, but I *really* want to help you get the best results for your hard efforts

Best wishes,
Mark

Hi Donna,

I saw some posts by you in Debbie's, Mark's and Pammie's journal. I thought I'd pop in and say hi. Great job on the workouts. With these 3 in your corner, you can't go wrong, that's for sure!!!!

I just recently stopped doing a whole body workout 3 times a week myself. I've gone to a 4 day split, with the help of these 3, and bugging Debbie constantly If you want some ideas, you can cruise into my gym log and see what I do, with the help of these wonderful people. And I do enjoy it alot. It's not as long, and you can add in some extra exercises for each group to get a better concentrated workout.

Anyway, nice to meet you. And GREAT JOB!!!!

Well~! Ya know? I have heard people say that about working each area differently- I guess that does make sense.

What I have BEEN doing- is basically something along a full body work out Monday/Tuesday Rest on Wednesday & do the same work out Thursday/Friday & rest on the week end from lifting.

Is it still recommended to split it up when having 3 rest days a week?

I suppose that I could do like legs & back one day then arms & abs another then the rest day & then back to legs & back then arms & abs again???
Does that sound reasonable?

Please be patient with me if I sound pathetic- ha ha
I'm VERY new at this!

Thank you both for your suggestions & thank you PAMMIE for your ever going motivation & praises!
You all are great!

This morning I done the same as yesterday but I added in the ab work-
3 sets of 15 reps crunches on the ball.

Feeling GREAT BTW! HE HE HE
Loving it SO much!
& YES Mark- I AM SO MOTIVATED!!!
Thanks partly to everyone here!
This site is a God send!
