Default BFL after a C-Section??

Hi! Are there any women out there who have tried this program BFL that have also had C-sections?

We ordered the book Body for Life and it hasn't arrived yet, so I'm asking "unprepared" I guess . I want to do this exercise program with my husband. But, my concern is that I had a C-section in February. According to my doctor is was a "normal" C-section, no extra problems and I healed up very well. But, my tummy tone (which wasn't much to speak of before the surgery, seven kids and no exercise program did that to me ), but now I am dealing with all the internal twinges and pulling from the surgery. Nothing I can't handle, I just want to know: is it possible to get tummy tone after such a big procedure? My doc said aerobics was a good thing to do, but I wasn't thinking of weight lifting at the time I asked him about excercise.

Hi,

I began working out 8 months after my second C-section. I had a trainer show me the ropes and went from there. I began lifting light weights and built up to lifting heavy. For lower body, I did stuff like squats, leg presses, dead lifts. Upper body was all the usual: curls, lat- pulldowns, shoulder presses, etc. And of course, lots of Abs work and back extensions. Never once did I feel even a twinge in my incision.

I did the Body for Life Challenge in 1999 with incredible results. Unfortunately, due to some health problems I had to take a break from working out and as a result, lost a lot of strength as well as put on weight. This evening I downloaded an entry form for the Body for Life Challenge 2002 and plan to start in early September.

Hope this helps,
Brenda

Hi Ladies~

I did not have a c-section, but did have 3 babies! I realize there is a big difference in the challenges of getting back in shape afterwards. Just so you know, my 'belly' is my biggest problem.
Good luck to ya'll!
Peace,
Brenda

Default Reply to the very helpful Brendas

Hey gals,
Thanks for responding! I will be doing BFL with my husband around Oct. That's when we get our weights delivered from my cousin's place. We have been building an add-on porch to put them in. It will be a challenge to overcome my very out of shape tummy, but I know that we will succeed.

Brenda, goodluck to ya on getting back into the pragram again.
Another Brenda, thanks for your support! It means alot!
