Unhappy Support or Discouragement?

Hi-
My dear bf is the one who got me started LCing. He lost 50 lbs in 6 months. He is now, for the most part maintaining, and wants to lose a little more.
Here is the problem. He wants to support me, and that is GREAT. But as I am eating my LC way, he is having bread...fries, ketchup, etc...all things he tells me I cant touch.
It is very hard for me to sit there and watch him eat this, and I wonder "well he is doing the same plan, if he can do it why cant I?" Intellectually I understand that we are at different points in the plan...but emotionally it stinks having to sit there and watch him eat what i cant have...even blueberry pie!
Any advice for me to help me deal with it?
Thanks,
Michelle

Hi Summer Yet,
It is hard, but think of you're goals and know that you too will
be at the point you're bf is now.
You're going to face challenges from everywhere...
I do at work, going out with friends and of course eating
at home while I'm the only one eating this way.
But I keep a positive additude while fixing DH a sandwinch
or watch him eat pizza while I'm dinking water.
We can't expect everyone to stop for us. (even if we think they should lol) Remember your BF went through it, maybe he can
share how he got through it.
Good luck, you're not alone.

Thank you GreenTea
It is just hard when he is supposed to be doing the plan, you know? I know I am probably whining, but I know you guys understand. All the words of support help, believe me!

Thanks!
Michelle

Hello and welcome Michelle.

Yup, it is tough knowing someone else is doing the same thing as you, but getting to do things you definately can't do. Just remember that every body has or is going through it! At someday you will be where he is! Just good luck...

I don't really know of ANY maintenance plan that allows french fries and blueberry pie!!! ....maybe once in a blue moon, but certainly not regularly! I hope he's watching the scale carefully!!!

Well, that being said.... it's just like any other situation where you have to resist temptation because to cave in would keep you from your goals! YOU and your health are more important than the taste of those yucky ol' fries anyway! (Not to mention that they're full of trans fats and acrylomide YUCK!!) When he's having that blueberry pie, and the temptation is just too strong, why dont you try having come peaches (or blueberries or raspberries) topped with heavy cream and splenda. I guarantee that will satisfy your sweet tooth AND keep you on track!!!

Thank you! I am looking for ideas...the thing was, we were on vacation, and my options were very limited as far as dessert went.
I thought the same thing about maintenance, with him eating that stuff. His reply to me is always "i know my body" or "we will see on the scale when we get home" or something along those lines. I have no place to judge anyone else though, so I just watched as he ate.
I stayed on plan most of the time...I think I did very well. I guess we WILL see when I step on the scale tomorrow morning. I guess I have to keep motivated for ME right?....right?
Thanks,
Michelle

RIGHT!!! I think that the key to avoiding feeling deprived (which is what you're feeling, right?) is to get busy learning some new LC recipes, get some fresh ideas from others' journals, etc. Everytime I find a new recipe that I like I get re-pumped!! "YEA!! I can do this!! I love this WOL!!" And ... the longer you work the plan, the more it just becomes the natural thing to do.

When I was a newbie, I tried this trick: I envisioned that bread, potato or that slice of cake sitting right on top of my hips. I also thought the cheat all the way through to the headaches, stomach ache and weight gain....suddenly it lost its appeal.

Working around vacation menus is difficult for anyone....no, there's not a whole lotta LC legal desserts out there. Sometimes if you ask the waiter if they just have some fresh berries and cream, they'll be happy to oblige!

Default Hi

Good morning Summer Yet
How is you're weekend going?
TerriDoodle is right, invision that food on your hips
and how much longer it takes to get rid of it compared to
the quick passing gradification of eating it works for me.
It will get easier believe me, I'm a recovering sweet aholic.
I still have moments of withdrawl but I get through it with help
from buddies right here.

ps. I used to live in NJ

Thank you both. I know you are right, but unfortunately intellect and emotion don't agree!! I am feeling better though, back on track. Actually glad I am home so I can control exactly what I am putting into my mouth.
I have one more whine to put out there though...HE lost 2 pounds over vacation...eating all that he did. I - who was GOOD - only lost 1!!! What is THAT all about! The only thing I can think is that it is because I am suppsed to be coming up on my TOM. This will be my 1st one since starting this WOL, so I am wondering if I will even get it. I have been urinating a lot, so I didn't think I was retaining water, but now I am hoping that is what the problem is. Well, whatever it is...I am sticking to this WOL no matter WHAT!

Summer Yet,
Remember your metabolism is not the same as BF.
Have you been to the sweet treat site yet?
Check it out. Especially the peanut butter cup one.
Keep up on the water and I mean LOTS of water
You sound like you have the right additude. Try not to
compare yourself with BF or anyone else. You are unique
and you'll know what's right for you.
This is not a race it's a WOL

Sweet treat site?? Haven't heard of that yet...do tell!! Where can I find it?! Sounds wonderful.
Water is my downfall. I can't stand it. Can I make herbal tea iced tea? I am always looking for ways around it. Horrible I know.
I have to thank both of you for all this support. It helps, believe me!
