Default gaining weight with exercise?

Hey guys......
I've been on Atkins since January and doing well...I just started exercising a couple days ago FINALLY....but my question is this...I exercised last nite and stepped on the scale and it was up 2 lbs from the day before....will starting to exercise put on a little weight at first? or is it muscle I'm gaining and will eventually start losing like I have been all along?
Thanks!

Default another ques about exercise

Hey....I forgot to mention on my last question..that I am on Induction..they say u can stay on induction for as long as you like..so thats what i'm doing...but they also say if you're on induction, to not exercise the first 2 weeks...does this mean i can't exercise if I'm staying on Induction pretty much till I get to my goal weight? Is this why I gained?

Hello =) No this means that during the first few weeks your energy will be low and then when you are feeling normal again then you can start to exercise. Most definately you can exercise during induction if you are on it longer than 2 weeks. I am still on induction in almost month 4 and I've been exercising for 2 months with great success. Exercise is good for ya they just didn't want you weak and energy-less exercising I bet.

Not muscle gain, can't gain 2 pounds of muscle in a few days. Probably just water gain from something you ate. Just drink more water than normal today, and I would suggest weighing in once a week to avoid worrying about these normal day to day weight fluctuations that all of us get. =) But you will eventually notice a difference and gain muscle and lose weight. Evens out in the end. Good luck.

If by exercising you mean lifting weights then that gain is water related to inflamed / torn muscles. Building muscle requires breaking it down first - those tears become inflamed and naturally retain water. It's a common occurance to be a few lbs up after a heavy workout.

It means you're going to have to see how things go. Many people cannot exercise intensely at <20g a day of carbs. If you're talking weight lifting then forget it - it's not a pretty sight

You also shouldn't be on Induction Level carbs 'pretty much till you get to goal' - you need to work some carbs back into your diet before then or it will be a nasty shock to your system. Induction is but one phase of the Atkins program - pull out your copy of the book and check out OWL and Maintenance. The goal here is not just to get to goal - it's to be able to maintain it as well.
