Question Wheat Germ vs. Wheat Bran

Hi Folks -- Newbie here back with a question.

In laymans terms, what is the difference between Wheat Germ & Wheat Bran. I noticed the Atkins site mentions Wheat Bran as a way to help with the little old constipation devil. I located Wheat GERM in the cereal aisle at the market & it seemed to have a fair amount -- more than I thought -- of carbs. (Can't remember the amount -- forgive my lack of memory, as I'm in induction.) Per fitday.com, seems like both have more carbs per serving than I'm allowed on induction.

Can anybody read through to my REAL question here? Heh heh

much gracias! Ginger

(Is this the right forum for this question?)

Probably a lot better for you than the wheat stuff and I know lower in carbs!

They are the exactly opposite parts of the wheat 'berry'. The germ is the inner part that sprouts and has lots of sugar and starch. It's rather like the egg of the wheat. Do not use on LC.

The bran is the indigestible outer husk which is practically nothing but fiber. Use this on LC if you want, but I prefer Psyllium husk capsules as being easier to take.

Default I have a feeling

my local grocery store doesn't carry that. It sounds exotic & my town is anything but exotic. I'll try General Nutrition -- wonder if they have things like that(?).

Thanks for the link!

Yes, GNC has its own brand of "psyllium seed husks" in capsules. it is not very exotic as psyllium is the main ingredient of Metamucil. But it's rather messy to mix & drink, even the sugar free.
