I am thrilled to be getting regular periods since starting Low Carbing BUT now I have PMS to deal with every month as a regular occurance as well. What can I do/take to help with the symptoms... my DH and kids want to know

Akiwican....

In the past.....I suffered greatly from PMS and even participated in a Prozak/PMS study, but unfortunately never did find anything that actually cures it! What I have learned to do though is recognize that the symptoms ARE about PMS and that I'm really not the psycho-B*#ch-from-H#*~!! My family got used to me responding on occasion with: "Grrrrrrrrrrr.....PMS!!" and would just give me a little extra space. Believe it or not.....that worked for me.

Wish I could give you a better answer.

hi Lesley,

Personally, I've found that Evening Primrose Oil is really helpful. And taking extra B6 during the second half of my cycle helps too. Just make sure you're taking a base amount of all the B-complex, such as in a multi-vite ... taking a single B-vitamin can lead to depletion of the others.

Healthwell.com has some good advice for natural treatments of PMS .. including eliminating all sources of sugar from the diet

hth,

Doreen

Perhaps eliminating all sources of sugar from the diets of your DH and kids might also bring relief for your PMS symptoms.

Too funny. My middle daughter had a mug that said: "Warning: I have PMS and a handgun." I like your idea better!

Les, getting the proper amount of calcium and magnesium can really help with PMS - and a recent study I found when searching for the Omega 3 info suggest that it also went a long way to relieve symptoms, particularly when additional B12 was supplemented.

Default Thanks one and all

Lots of great info here, thanks alot girls. I will bear it in mind......when I am in control of my mind again

I would LOVE to rid the house of sugar but 3 against 1 is not good odds even if I can use PMS as an excuse for having thrown out all the "GOOD" "food"
