Default Hello!

Hello!

I have been lurking for the past few days to get a feel for this forum. I love it! So much information!

Anyway, my name is Amy Pierce. I am a public school teacher in transition! For the past 10 years, I have been teaching elementary general music with a dip into computer lab. Well, now I am moving from Michigan to Missouri (in about a week!) to teach computer lab full time and live closer to my parents! (And yes, I play the harp, hence my log-in name!)

I have been doing Atkins since July 1, 2002. I'm sold. I weighed 247 when I started and now weigh 230. I'm 5'11". Once I broke through my carb addiction I was amazed at the energy that I've got! I can give it up (the carb addiction) for all of this energy!

I am confused about a few things. The Ketosis strips (in the morning), is it better to have them dark purple? Will I be losing faster? Mine is a medium pink. To get it dark purple, do I need to cut back on carbs?

When can I add in a few LC treats? I would love to try Atkins pancakes and muffins!

Thanks,
Amy

Hi Amy...It looks like you are doing very well...good for you...as for the questions...

Pink, or moderate colored stix are fine...A lot of people do not use ketostix as they don't workm for everyone...However...you do not want them to be drk prpl...that means you are dehydrated...NOT GOOD!! Make sure you are drinking all your water!

Once you are past the induction you may start adding some atkins products...just be aware of how your body reacts to them...sometimes they can set off cravings....Try to stay away from the L/C bars...they have many hidden carbs and can cause stalls in WL.

Hope this has been helpful.

Thumbs up Welcome

Hi Amy

Welcome to this forum, I'm glad you have quit lurking. Many congratulations on those 15 pounds gone. That was real quick and must have motivated you no end.

As already said, you want the ketostix just to be pink. Purple means you are not drinking enough water.

Now that you have finished induction you could add in a few low carb treats, but be careful. You might like to also see the recipes on this forum.

All the best with the move and your new job. Every success with the low carb way of life.

Thank you for your help! I didn't know about the stix being purple! I won't look for that anymore. Also, I love the recipe forum, thanks for the heads up.

Five more days until the permanent move! STRESS!!!!! Yikes!

Amy
