Unhappy I fell off the wagon!

I am so confused with how I'm feeling! Part of me is disgusted that I failed, the other part is happy that I gave in and satisfied my cravings!

For all the women out there, I hope you sympathize, but I started menstruating and when that happens, EVERYTHING gets tossed out the window.
There's no way I'm going to the gym this week. So I figured, why not eat junk too?

Well, today was a bad day, I was invited out for dinner and was made the most wonderful foods. Hamburger, rice and veggies, sweet pickles, watermelon and strawberry shortcake, oh my!

My question: Can I jump back on the wagon? I haven't eaten since 7pm and won't eat until breakfast. I'm going to start back on the Atkins. It will take 48 hours for my body to start burning fat.... does this mean my 8 days of Induction was a waste?
I really want to give it all I've got, now that I know that I can do it and felt better doing it and lost a couple of pounds doing so.
But how has this affected my body? Will I gain the weight back in a day?

Here's to starting day 1, yet again, tomorow!

Here's my experience: one meal won't kill you. I think that what screws people up (at least myself) much more is to think that if you had one high carb meal or even one high carb day, you've blown it and should just give up. If you instead just go back to the program, you'll probably feel minimal impact. I had a little binge once that I was really worried about, but according to my ketostix I was still doing all right. I think what happens the most when people veer off the low carb highway for short periods of time is that the weight loss just stalls for a bit. You probably won't GAIN weight if it was just once. Just go back to it.

I agree with csfdavis - you'll probably gain water weight, but not fat. But be prepared for a *hangover.* This is what deters many of us from overindulging in carbs - once you're comfortably low-carb, then you overindulge, your body needs a *heck* of a lot of water to store it. It dries you out as badly as alcohol, at least in my experience. It's no fun.

Thanks you guys, you are so right. The next day I felt like garbage and I felt good about it. It gave me the extra kick I needed to stick with it because you know what? It wasn't worth it! This diet isn't so bad in the grand scheme of things. I'm glad I got it out of my system.
I was just afraid that it meant that I'd be back at square 1, you know? I can't wait to see the pounds shed!
xoxo
