Unhappy Food after a stomach bug

Three days ago, I had a yucky stomach bug - vomitting for 24 hours, then queasy feelings for another 24. I had a fever, aches, the whole deal - I felt like a little kid again. My husband had it a week ago, and it's "going around" at my children's school. Any ideas on what I might have reintroduced first to stay on induction? I was dizzy, weak, and unable to sit up to post a thread here at the time, and caved in with gingerale and saltine crackers (a childhood comfort and "cure."). Somehow a burger, a piece of chicken, and a salad all sounded awful to me. I am OFF the saltines and gingerale without a problem, and back on induction now, although I do feel a bit weak and of course I lost some extra weight. (If you think dieting is the hard way, think again). Any thoughts on "gentle" foods, and do I need to replace some things I may have lost with all those fluids?
Thanks,
Maureen

I hope you're feeling better. I just was sick too. Being sick and on induction was not fun. But stuck to it. I managed to eat chicken broth, cans of Vienna sausages, jello, and tea. I think that's about it. All were easy on my tummy. Anyone else have ideas?

But after I got better I went right back to the plan. Eating next to nothing for a week didn't seem to hurt the diet. No worries mate.

Hi Maureen!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Those stomach bugs are the pits, aren't they? for a recipe for low carb Gatorade, check this link http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthre...&threadid=44054 If you've had a lot of vomiting and/or diarrhea, it's a good idea to try and replace the electrolytes lost during that time. Unless the vomiting or diarrhea was severe, a quart or so should be sufficient. As for what to eat now, start with milder, non-dairy foods at least for the next day or so, like scrambled eggs and plain meats. Avoid caffeine and heavily spiced foods until your stomach feels more able to handle it. You could also try Wasa crispbreads and see how your stomach handles those. They're a bit heavier than saltines, but along the same line. Hope you're back up to full speed again soon!

THANKS for the gatorade info. I'm heading out to the supermarket this morning and will set myself up. I am a "newbie" and I have to say between this Forum and the Dr. Atkins New Diet Cookbook, ANYTHING is possible and food is a joy. I know my last weight loss stretch may take the longest, but I am ready and excited!
