Default Professor Charles Clark's 'The New High Protein Diet'

Hi, I'm new here and just started this plan today. Found the book last week in a Waterstone's, think it only actually came out next week.

It seems to be the older style of LC diet- carbs only 40 - 60g daily, 40g better. I've done Atkins before and gave up really quickly due to constipation and generally not feeling right on it, so hope this one's better!

Can anyone give me any tips for snacks and for that sweet craving? I did have a bowl of sugar free jelly today which was about 6.4g of carb and helped some.

Thanks in advance!

Louise

Hi Lou49

Haven't heard of this one yet, but it sounds similar to Eat Fat Get Thin as he allows up to 60gms epr day.

For sugar cravings I guess the advice would be the same as for Atkins - he recommends L-Glutamine before meals or when craving is at its highest, or extra Chromium.

You could also try a teaspoonful of cream cheese if you're allowed it on this plan.

Your sugar free jelly carb count seems a bit high - I use Rowntrees and per 1/4 pt serving it's only 0.2gms. Which make did you use?

Good luck

Hi Louise

Your plan sounds similar to the one I am doing - Eat Fat Get Thin, mentioned above.

For sweet cravings, I eat some low carb fruit - berries, usually, or a plum, with extra thick double cream and/or Greek yogurt. Drained canned raspberries in juice are fairly low carb, or you can scrape out a passion fruit over your cream, which is really yummy. For an extra treat, I'll squeeze a spoonful of fresh lime juice over the top.

Katy
