Well, I’m safely back in Vancouver. The first thing I noticed when I stepped out of the airport was how quiet and green it is here.

The trip was wonderful, but I think I need a low-carb intervention!

So much has seemed to have happened in LC Canada in the past few weeks. Hello to all new members - wave, wave.

My sister and BIL joined me in Kyoto and since they are both vegetarians—no easy feat in Japan as many things are made with a stock that contains dried, shaved tuna—we ate at two outstanding tofu restaurants. One was at a Buddhist temple. Very cool.

Rachel and Wa’il, I brought each of you back a bottle of Pocari Sweat, a drink sweetened with stevia. It’s a bit like Gatorade. We should do the coffee thing soon...

Karen

hi Karen, welcome home. Can't wait to read more tales of your travels.

Take care, rest up (if possible) ... regroup and recenter ... you'll do ok with the decarb/detox...

love ya, Doreen

Welcome home. Missed you here on the board. I'm being "assimilated" into the Vancouver coffee group tomorrow, I stopped resisting. Hope to meet you ~ Starbucks.

And thanks in advance for the goodie! Hope you can come tomorrow! But rest and settle in, if that's what you need to do instead. Bet you're glad to see your furry pals, and bet they're glad to see YOU!

Default Thanks

Thanks All!

De-carbing is OK so far, probably because I can't tell what is jet lag and what is detox.

The flight to Japan is only 9 1/2 hours. It takes longer to fly to Halifax. The thing is that the date line is crossed so it's 17 hours ahead..

I don't know about coffee! I've committed to something else.

You'll have fun Ruth. Remember: resistance is futile.

Must run and read the rest of the new posts.

Karen

Default Hey, welcome back!

Karen, *only* 9 1/2 hours????!!!!

I'm good for six, that's my limit (and, coincidentally, about how long it takes to get to Hawaii). After that it's business class or I stay home

And isn't our airport nice too? good to see those departure tax dollars being put to good use on all those restful waterfalls and fake old growth ha ha.

I almost kissed the squeaky clean floors and ran the hot water forever in the pre-immigration area washroom when I got home from Ireland. (Has anyone ever used the downstairs bathroom at the Dublin bus terminal? ewwww... my country!) No such worries in white-glove Japan, though, I'm sure. Hope to see some travel pics soon?

I'm really bad at getting pictures developed. I haven't even developed the ones from my trip to France in March yet!

So, maybe there will be a picture or two in a few months.
