Default Hooked on Carbohydrate Addict's Diet

Hello. Writing from Missouri. The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet changed my life in January 2001. I lost 24 pounds and have kept it off easily. For the first time in my life, I am SURE I won't be fat again. For the first time in my life I can go through the day without thinking about eating all the time. I can feel real hunger and real satiation. My cholesterol levels have dropped markedly and I get to eat dessert everyday, when in my fat days I was always saying "no."

It seems like most of the postings are from Atkins fans and there is not so much information on the diet I'm on. Mainstream diet experts shun the Hellers' book, do serious low-carbers as well? Just asking. I think it's great that there are a bunch of people willing to go against standard wisdom of the diet world. It is amazing to me that this idea of low-carbing is treated as just another fad. Thank God I decided to give it a try.

Hi Bookworm, and welcome to the forum.

Actually we have a very active CAD/CALP group here, with an ongoing weekly challange.

I read CALP and found it very informative. I cannot follow it simply because I would binge on reward meals. However, I find it works for many low-carbers, and see nothing wrong in it, for people who can handle the reawrd meal, without triggering cravings, and there's quite a few of those.

Wa'il

Bookworm,
Congratulations on your success!! Welcome aboard.
I'm kinda new around here myself, but it seems to me whatever diet you are on, this is an excellent place for information and support.

Smile CAD

Welcome! Check out the CAD forum...lost of great people, but you're right, we tend to be outnumbered.

I also lost my weight doing CAD and then my lifestyle got in the way (internship/residency). I stopped eating LC and guess what? The cravings and weight came back! Back on track now, hope you see you around!
