Default Sucralose with no additives, no carbs...

I was sent this link by someone on my PCOS_Low-Carb~yahoogroups.com e-mail list, and would love to hear what you guys think. I think that the price is astronomical... but maybe once converted it's worth it?

Is this a good alternative to the "now gone" liquid splenda?

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

I had a look at the page, and once I got over my shock at seeing it available (and maybe we should buy it up while we still can?! before it goes the way of the Liquid Splenda ?), I thought about your question.

One ounce is 28.32 grams or thereabouts. A container of 10 grams of white Stevia extract (carbless, purified, no filler, etc. etc.) will be ALMOST as sweet by volume/weight as this stuff is supposed to be. A 10 gram container runs between $10 and $12 Canadian. Guessing the equivalent cost (by weight) would be $35 Canadian (or about $22 US).

Now think about how much you're paying for Splenda Granular... the box of 110 grams is supposed to be equivalent of how many Cups of sugar?

This is the only way to compare... but I'd rather pay a premium for the pure stuff and make my own liquid than pay for the filler and the box ... s'truth.

I'm looking into it, count on it and I'm linking to this post from the Products forum, too. Lots of interest there, I'm thinking.

I bought an ounce of the pure sucralose to try and I like it a lot.
One teaspoon of the powder is equal in sweetness to about 3 cups of sugar.

I am keeping track of how much I use so I'll be able to compare the cost with that of Splenda.

I mixed a teaspoon of the sucralose with 1-1/2 cups of water and use that to sweeten my coffee. That way one teaspoon of the water equals two teaspoons of sugar (no, my sweet tooth has not disappeared :wink

I have also made a couple of almond pound cakes, replacing the cup of Splenda it called for with 3/8 teaspoon of the sucralose; the last time I think I didn't measure as carefully because it was a little too sweet.

This is great stuff! And when you eliminate the carb count of Splenda (24 per cup), that just makes recipes that are already low carb even lower. I love it!
