Cool Greetings!

Hi everyone. My name is Teri and I am a 39 year old mother of 3 daughters, 13, 6 and 23 months. I am also 1 year breast cancer survivor and need to lose about 94 lbs. to get to my ideal weight. I have read the Protein Power and Atkins diet books and think that there may be something to this, so today we go grocery shopping and start the plan. My fiance' also has about 80 lbs to lose so it should be interesting to see how we do. Anyway, I found this group by surfing around for info that might help us along the way and hope to learn as well as contribute .

Welcome to the forum, Teri You'll find a lot of valuable information on this site. And a lot of support. Protein Power has to be one of the best LC books around - it will give you the basis you need to understand why LC is such a great lifestyle choice and why it works so well as a return to health.

I suggest having a good look around the forum; there's a great thread under the Newbies' Questions forum called 'Hot Links!' that provides information on many of the issues that you'll face as you start out on your new WOL (way of life). You should also check out www.fitday.com - it's a free site that allows you to track calories, carbs, activities and your weight. It really helps to get a handle on just what you're eating (and often, not eating).

Happy LCing and best of luck to both you and your Fiancee.
Nat

Hi, Teri! I can't add anything to what Nat has said, except to echo her welcome and wish you well. I hope you'll post often so we know how things are going -- all best to you.

Talking Welcome!

It's great you and your fiancee are doing the diet together, it makes things MUCH easier! When is your wedding? are you hoping to be at your goal weight at that time?

Good Luck to you! This is a great WOE!

Carrie

Hi Teri
You will find that this forum is so wonderful. I'm fairly new here and everyone is so nice and helpful. I think it's wonderful that your fiance is changing to this WOE as well. You will both feel so great in no time that you won't ever want to go back to your old way of eating. Good luck, I hope you have the same sucess that I'm having. Keep us posted.

Hi Teri

May I also extend a welcome to you. Hope the shopping went well today and that you and your fiancee enjoy this way of life.

As the others have already said, read the bits other have posted and keep a journal of your progress.

I found the first week a bit tough going, as my body adjusted to a total different eating regime, but once I've got through that I have never looked back and feel so much better in myself, and certainly in my self esteem.

All the best.
