Default This is my AWFUL cheating method

I should preface this by saying that I am not at all obsessed with my weight

That being said, I have found a way of cheating that works for me, but really makes me think "Wow, I must look like I have an eating disorder!"

If I really want something and can't avoid it - I chew it and spit it out

I do the SAME thing..right into the garbage disposal.....the slight leftover taste is JUST enough to satisfy me! (of course, I don't let the kids or DH see it...)

I do the same thing, but I try to avoid it, I could go through a lot of junk food using that method

Be careful guys. This can easily get out of hand, especially if you have a compulsive personality like me. Believe me, I know. I did this too. Then it got out of hand. I've stopped doing it, thank goodness.

If it doesn't pose a problem, then great, go for it.

I appreciate the concern. For me, it doesn't pose a problem. I think I've done this twice in the past two months

Me too Me too!!! Its only when I REALLY want something though! Its pretty rare, but thats funny that are so many of us out there! HA!! SSHHHH, its a secret here too! lol
Oh one thing though, thats not a secret, I probably drive my family INSANE with it... Is smelling something that they are eating. It really helps me. I know, you would probably think eek that might make it harder, but for me, it doesnt. It works!! BUT IM CONSTANTLY SMELLING MY FAMILY'S FOOD! LOL I betcha probably once a day you would hear "OOO can I just smell that?" coming from my kitchen. Ive even been known to smell food at a couple of my good friends houses too! *What a confession* Hey man, whatever works right?!!! lol
Keep up the good work.

You know what I do the same thing and it helps...I SMELL it and it helps. I really have not had a lot of real cravings, but SMELLING it really has helped....my family thinks I a bit strange but they figure if it helps to make the craving pass...so be it.

for chewing and spitting out, you should know that a lot of the sugar gets dissolved in your saliva pretty much immediately, so spitting the food back out only gets rid of *some* of the carbs if you're doing this with something sweet. I imagine if you did it with something starchy like bread or something it would be less of a problem.

WOW let the truth be told, lol I can't say that I ever did the chew and spit it out.I think It would be to much of a temptation to swallow once it was in my mouth,at least for me.Its funny you mention the smelling of food cause I do the same thing. It depends on what it is.If Its Chocolate I smell it and that pretty much helps me, or a piece of cake. I have this thing about how people eat. Some people can really gross me out the way they eat.I can't stand to see someone hover over their food, their nose practically in their plate. Like they haven't eaten in days and scarf it all up.Than when they finally take their heads out of their plate they have food all over their mouth.GROSS!! There is a girl at work who does this and I try not to look at her at lunch not only that but she will smell it before she puts it in her mouth. At first I thought she was smelling it to be sure it wasn't spoiled but she does it all the time.Mostly with finger food.It just turns me off.Oh well,Thats just me.

Chewing and spitting out food is listed in the DSM-IV as part of an eating disorder.
