Thumbs up Thursday at the Gym

Had a good session lasting 60 minutes and improved quite a bit on Tuesday. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. Got my heart rate up to 140 at one point. The watch says I spent 31 minutes in the zone which for a 31 min cardio session is not bad! This amounted to 253 calories burnt off.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.8 kph - Up 0.3 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 35 kg - up 5 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 20 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 15 kg - up 1 set
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets if 10 at 15 kg- up 1 set

Rotex - 6 mins at level 2 at 125 - 135 cps - Up 1 minute

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill as follows: - Up 5 minutes
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.5 with -5% gradient
5 min at 4.1 kph
5 min at 4.1 with 5% gradient

I hope to go again on Sunday.

Thumbs up Saturday and aquafit

A reasonably good session with Vikki today. Worked well. Do wish she had some personality though and did not do so many repeats of the exercises.

Swam 6 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 4 lengths afterwards. So pleased with that. Arms did not ache as much as last week.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Gym on Sunday

First time I've been to the gym on a Sunday since Easter, I think. Had a good session lasting 65 minutes and improved quite a bit on Thursday. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. The watch says I spent 26 minutes in the zone which for a 32 min cardio session is OK. This amounted to 175 calories burnt off.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.8 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 35 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 20 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 15 kg
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets of 12 at 15 kg - Up 2 reps
Side pull down - RHS - 2 sets of 15 at 10 kg - new
Side pull down - LHS - 2 sets of 20 at 5 kg - new

Rotex - 7 mins at level 2 at 125 - 135 cps - Up 1 minute

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill as follows:
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.5 with -5% gradient
5 min at 4.1 kph
5 min at 4.1 with 5% gradient

I hope to go again on Tuesday.

Thumbs up Gym on Thursday

Unfortunately did not make it on Tuesday or Wednesday evening. Working at home today and so went in the morning before lunch. That should get my metabolism going!

Had a good session lasting 70 minutes and improved quite a bit on Sunday. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. I did 25 minutes of weights. The watch says I spent 24 minutes in the zone which for a 32 min cardio session is OK. This amounted to 168 calories burnt off.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.8 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 40 kg - Up 5 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 20 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 15 kg
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets of 15 at 15 kg - Up 3 reps
Side pull down - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 10 kg - Up 5 reps
Side pull down - LHS - 2 sets of 20 at 5 kg
Two handed front pull down - 2 sets of 20 at 25 kg -new

Rotex - 7 mins at level 2 at 125 - 135 cps

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill as follows:
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.5 with -5% gradient
5 min at 4.1 kph
5 min at 4.1 with 5% gradient

I hope to go again on Sunday.

A reasonably good session with Chris today. Apparently Vikki has now left and Chris has taken over. She has improved a lot since she first took the class and even had a chat with me! Worked well. Not to many jumps into the barrell.

Swam 6 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 6 lengths afterwards. So pleased with that. Did not need to rest inbetween the lengths.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Tuesday at the Gym

Had a half day from work and decided to go to the gym mid afternoon.

Had a good session lasting 75 minutes and improved a bit on Thursday. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. I did 25 minutes of weights. The watch says I spent 21 minutes in the zone which for a 37 min cardio session is going downward. This amounted to 178 calories burnt off.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.8 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 40 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 120 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 20 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 15 kg
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets of 15 at 15 kg

Side pull down - LHS - 2 sets of 10 at 10 kg - Up 5 kg
Two handed front pull down - 2 sets of 20 at 25 kg

Rotex - 7 mins at level 2 at 125 - 135 cps

I did 25 minutes on the treadmill as follows: - Up 5 mins
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.5 with -5% gradient

Quite a good session with Chris. It was better than last week with not so many changes after just one or two repetitions. Needs more variety though.

Swam 8 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 6 lengths afterwards. So very pleased with that. I think that is the most I have ever swum in this pool. Did not need to rest inbetween the lengths.

Booked in for next week.

Had a good session, but only stayed for 30 minutes. I really improved on my arm exercises, but was worn out by the end and so came home! I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. I did 25 minutes of weights. The watch says I spent 5 minutes in the zone and this amounted to 67 calories burnt off, however, in effect it will have been a lot more.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.9 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 40 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 25 kg - Up 5 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 15 at 20 kg - Up 5 kg
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets of 5 at 20 kg - Up 5 kg
Side pull down - RHS - 2 sets of 10 at 15 kg - Up 5 kg
Side pull down - LHS - 1 sets of 10 at 10 kg - Up 5 kg
Two handed front pull down - 2 sets of 20 at 30 kg - Up 5 kg
Reverse front pull down - RHS - 1 set of 20 at 5 kg, 1 set 10 at 10 kg - New
Reverse front pull down - RHS - 1 set of 20 at 5 kg, 1 set 10 at 10 kg - New

An OK session with Chris. Still needs more variety, had a word with her afterwards. Wonder what next week will bring.

Swam 10 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 6 lengths afterwards. So very pleased with that. That is the most I have ever swum in this pool. Did not need to rest inbetween the lengths.

Thumbs up Sunday at the Gym

Just concentrated on the CV stuff today. Needed to get home as a friend was coming to dinner. Had a good session, 38 mins of CV work. Unfortunately the machines interfered with my heart monitor watch, so did not get an accurate calorie figure. Believe it to be in the order of 170.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.9 kph

Rotex - 8 mins at level 2 at 130 - 140 cps

I did 25 minutes on the treadmill as follows:
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.7 with -5% gradient
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.1 with 6% gradient - up 1%
5 min at 4.5 kph - up 0.4 kph

An OK session with Chris. Gosh, it was really boring today, she needs to build in more variety.

Swam 6 lengths of breast stroke before the session and another 14 lengths afterwards. That is the most I have ever swum and so was really pleased. My stamina is improving so much.

Booked in for next week.

Thumbs up Tuesday at the gym

It is three weeks since I last was at the gym. Had a good session lasting 65 minutes and had not lost a lot of form over the 3 weeks. I wore my heart monitor and watch for the whole session, but it only really registers when you do cardio vascular work. I did 25 minutes of weights. The watch says I spent 30 minutes in the zone which for a 31 min cardio session is not bad. This amounted to 210 calories burnt off.

This is what I did:

I did 5 minutes on the treadmill at 4.9 kph

Abductor - 4 slow sets of 20 at 40 kg
Leg Press - 4 slow sets of 20 at 130 kg - Up 10 kg
Upright row - 2 slow sets of 20 at 20 kg
1 handed front pull - RHS - 2 sets of 20 at 15 kg
1 handed front pull - LHS - 2 sets of 15 at 15 kg
Two handed front pull down - 2 sets of 20 at 25 kg
Reverse front pull down - RHS - 2 set of 10 at 10 kg
Reverse front pull down - RHS - 2 set of 10 at 10 kg

Rotex - 6 mins at level 2 at 125 - 135 cps

I did 20 minutes on the treadmill as follows:
5 min at 4.5 kph
5 min at 4.1 kph
5 min at 3.9 kph
5 min at 3.7 kph

I hope to go again on Thursday.
