Default Be prepared for a few rough days!

The biggest tip I can probably give you right now is to be prepared for some rough days early on. It's normal, it's expected, it's an indicator of good things happing and it doesn't last.

I wish I had chosen Day 1 to be a Friday so that I could have hidden in bed for most of the next two days.

Drink LOTS of water - that will probably lessen the duration of the bad days.

Hang in there!

Jmey--

Wbahns advice about water is key, you MUST drink at least 64 oz of water through the day, not only will that make you feel better, but it will help with "keto-breath" (your gonna love that)

My biggest piece of advice is to not let people get you down, your gonna hear that "its not healty" or "your kidneys are going to fail", we all in this forum are here to help you, we all are considerably more healthy for being on this diet. Just remember that when temptation stares you in the eye, dont blink, just stuff a cheese omelette in its eye

Default Welcome, Jmey100

Hi Jmey100,

Welcome to the Active lowcarbers forum...and yes, new members are always welcome.

Some people might think it best to read the book first, and then start on the WOE (way of eating). But from your point of view, it's just as good to do it this way round. Maybe more work for others, but you will want to repay that later, right? The way we work here is to give and receive help when needed. Over time, we do both, so it evens out. And I can understand your excitement, and your desire to get straight on with it, rather than delay until you've finished reading the book!

What I advise is this. Find out the practical information you immediately need, which is Induction rules. You can read and understand all the background information and supporting evidence later, once you are under way. I would have been able to recite Atkins Induction rules myself until recently, but the latest edition of his book has made a number of crucial changes, and I am still waiting for my copy of the new book from America...

So you need to turn straight to the section entitled "Induction",
and follow that for 2 weeks as is it were cast in stone. During that time, any questions you have will be answered by loads of helpful members who are already following induction, and are encountering the same things themselves.

The best thing you can do is to start up a journal (under the "J" section of the Bootcamp/Journals sub-forum in your case) so that we can keep an eye on your menus, and other people know where to get hold of you.

If you commit yourself to this WOE with your current enthusiasm, you should do very well.
