Hi, I don't know if this has been discussed before, but has anyone noticed
any changes in their vision since starting LCarbing?
Has it been positive or negative change. Just wondering.

If you are diabetic or pre-diabetic changes in vision will occur. If you're having changes in vision GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR to see if you're pre-diabetic. Most people don't even know they have diabeties until it's a crisis.

Yes, vision changes: blurriness, a dark spot or just a noticeable change can be symptoms that require immediate attention. BLurriness and a dark spot can mean detached retina or stroke.
DO NOT WAIT if you have those. Get to the hospital at once.

Now you're scaring me. I had an eye infection a few months ago. It seems to be cleared up, but for the last week or so, I keep thinking my glasses are dirty because my right eye keeps blurring out of focus. I thought it was just leftover from the infection.

I guess I'll be making an eye appt. for tomorrow!

Diamond, has your vision improved or worsened? I have been "blind" since the 5th grade. My eyesite worsened after moving to Caly-fawn-y-aah but nothing noticeable since low carbing. I did have a growth on my eye for a month called a ptgurium ( sp? ) but it is believed to be cause from excessive sunshine.

I did have my eyes checked yesterday. The doctor found that I have
cataracts in both eyes but my right eye being worst than left. He said
I probably will need surgery in about two years for my right eye. The thing
is that the last time I had my eyes checked I didn't have any cataracts.
Doctor gave my a new prescription for glasses. I've been low carbing for over a year and half and take plenty of vitamins. I was getting headaches
and pain mostly by my right eye, blurry and watery so that's why I went
to get it checked out. To top it off I'm only 42 years old and the doctor
was surprised because cataracts usually show up much later. I'm just so
upset right now that I want to crawl under a rock and disappear.

Hmmm, 42 is quite young. Do you smoke or have close family members who have experienced cataracts? Have you ever been dehydrated or experienced poor nutrition as a child? I recall reading about causes of cataracts awhile ago. I am going to see if I can find the link.

I had the same thing, so when I went to the eye dr we worked it out. He said that my tear ducts weren't making enough moisture, so he prescribed me new contacts that allow your eyes to "breath" better, I've noticed 110% improvement since getting these contacts! He said if it didn't get better, he could put little tubes in my tear ducts to promote tears... It's not a surgery or anything, he said it's actually quite a common problem. I definitly wouldn't relate it to low carbing... I actually think mine was caused from my new job, where I stare at a computer screen alllllllllllllllllllll day...

I'm sorry to hear that, diamond, but low carbing actually helps keep the lens elastic because it lowers the incidence of "glycation of proteins" that stiffen the fibers.

I hear from my grandmother that cataract surgery has come a loooooooooong way, and maybe by the time you have to have it done, it will be even easier. I hope so!

I've had a cataract in my right eye since I was about 12 years old. In the 45 years since, it has not grown. The only problem it has caused has been slightly less than 20/20 vision (non-correctable by glasses) in that eye.
