Wink Clothes sizes at your weight

Hi Everyone,

I hope you are all well.

I was just wondering about clothes sizes I've been reading in magazines about people who weight so much and are a certain size in clothes and I think how come I weigh less but take a bigger size so now I even see how tall they are does anyone mind saying what size they wear as we all can see how much we weigh. I'd just like to make sure I'm ok taking these sizes at my current weight. My clothes fit me nicely not tight.

I weigh 185 lb = 13 st 3lb I take a size 16 top and size 20 bottom.

I'm 5 ft 5 in.

Thank you I thought it was best to post this in the uk bit as the usa sizes are different.

wjd x

Hi. I am about 5' 4" weigh 146 wear 10/12 in most things. I don't get many "vanity sized" things, but of course you can wear much smaller sizes if you're willing to pay the price.

Hi,
I am 5'8" tall and weigh 222lbs.
I am currently in a size 18 top (although fitted into a 16 at the weekend very comfortable and not tight!) and very loose size 20 bottoms so maybe even an 18.

Donna.

I weigh 215 at 5'11".

Right now I'm at that annoying stage where the women's sizes are too big, but the miss sizes are too small. I wear a loose 14/tight 12 in pants. Still wearing large or extra large in shirts as the twins haven't shrunk any.

I've lost a shoe size too.

I'm 5' 3.5", and weigh 143lb. take a US size 10/12 and UK size 14 (loose)(M&S). I kept a detailled diary of my weight loss against inch loss for a year and a half while I lost 30LB on Atkins. I found that if I added together my inch loss on my hips and waist, then one inch equalled 3LB. and that was pretty constant throughout the weight loss. Overall I lost 6" from my waist and 4" from my hips. So based on that, for me, 12LB = one dress size near enough. I've been coasting for a year now (no gain, no loss) and am back on the Atkins diet to try to lose the last 10 - 14lb.

Hi,

Im 5 ft 9 and currently weigh 179 ( had a bit of a slip)

I wear a size 16 on top & a 14/16 on the bottom. I'm actually in a smaller size at this weight than I was when I did Low fat!

I am the typical apple shape, nearly all the weight I carry is arround my tum. Atkins really seems to be helping in shifting that. On Low Fat I had really skinny arms & legs, no boobs, but still a big round middle!

It will be a nice surprise to see what size I'll be when I finally get to goal! (Hopefully by Xmas 2004)

I'm 5'4" weigh 168 and am just now back in UK14s (so that'd be US 10s I think).
In the past I tended to work on a stone (14lbs) equating to a dress size so 9 stone=10 (I was there once *sigh*) 10st=12, 11st=14, 12st=16 and so on. I think I'm in a smaller size and weighing heavier as I've been really kicking the exercise- both cardio and weights so am about the size I was at 11st7 last time round, if that makes sense

I think alot depends on one's body shape (am lucky to be an hourglass) and also where one shops- I got into a M&S 12 top today but I know I'd probably still be in a 16 at Next.

Interesting thread though, thanks

Hi (first UK post - just discovered you!)

I'm bit like Alenamac and Maamel...

I'm 5'4" and 156lbs - I was a size 16 bum and a size 14 top (unless I was going for the squeeze-myself-into-a-stretchy-top- and-have-to-suck-my-tummy-in, size 12!) and I'm probably not far off being a big 14 bum and a proper 12 top.

I am stuck in that no man's land though - where older, too tight clothes are fun again, but essential every day items are looking v. baggy & rather silly (thinking of my black work pants here... oh dear)

Rebsee - you take a smaller size in knickers than trousers?! Wow - maybe it's just me, but I sometimes I end up with pants a size bigger than my trous, cos I can't stand it when they dig in, even a little bit!

Plus, it should be the law that knickers are sold 8/10, 10/12, 12/14, 14/16, 16/18, 18/20 IMHO!!!! As a 14 bum I wouldn't dream of buying 12/14 so I always end up with 16/18 and having to pull em up all day long!

pp x
