Default Questions about atkins and food

Hi my name is John im new, I have just started the atkins and wondering with all the new products out there how do I know what I can and cant eat in the induction phase. there are alot of different companies out there that have alot of low carb foods. cna anyone help i do not want to mess this up.

Welcome to this wonderful way of eating. It's best to do a "clean" induction, in my opinion. I would definitely avoid the bars. Shakes might be ok if you're really on the go, and can't otherwise eat. It's better than skipping meals. I'd recommend sticking to the foods listed in the DANDR book. Good luck and much success!!!

I think its very important to try to stay away from any of the marketed packaged "low carb" foods. You're trying to wean yourself off of your sugar addiction as well as other junk in your diet, and following the 4-step program will be easier if you do it slowly but surely. When I started Atkins in 2002, there were almost NO low carb products on the market, and I don't think I'd have succeeded seeing how many "fake" low carb products are out there.
