Default Ordering Food from Atkins Magazine

Has anyone ordered anything via the Atkins Mag (or the website) that they've been particularly happy with? I am very tempted to order a few things but was hoping for some feedback first. I'm thinking of ordering the cheesecake sampler or some mini cheesecakes. All the chocolatey desserts look yummy too. The only L/C item I've ordered online was the Davinci syrups which I LOVE (especially caramel in my coffee).

Some of the stuff can be found in stores, and some of it is really expensive to order. I think with the cheesecakes, you have to pay an additional $20 or $30 shipping charge to keep it cool! Way too much for a cheesecake in my opinion, when I can make one on my own.

I will tell you my absolute favorite Atkins product, though. It's the All-Purpose Batter Mix — NOT the Bake Mix; this is totally different. It is used to batter seafood or chicken or vegetables, or anything else you want to batter and fry. I've even used it to make real mozzarella sticks. I buy Butterball chicken tenders and batter them with this mix, then deep-fry. They are as good as something you'd get in a restaurant (people will tell you you can make breaded chicken tenders with pork rinds, but they never appealed to me).

I also recently bought the Atkins cinnamon raisin bagels in a grocery store, and they were good. And the brownie mix is fantastic, if you can afford the carbs and the sugar alcohols.

I haven't order anything from his magazine. You might check the recipe forum. There are lots of cheese cake recipes out there that are very good.

thanks for the idea about the batter. Some fried chicken tenders sound pretty good.

That does sound great Hilary! Did you get the batter mix in your grocery store? How do you deep fry the chicken - do you just coat them in the batter mix and fry them in olive oil? Sorry for the basic questions - i don't cook much .. Well - I do now that I'm low-carbing.

The outrageous shipping has deterred me from ordering much from Atkins. Back when I DID order non-perishables from them, I was always disappointed to find they were out of at least one item. I spent WEEKS trying to get a refund for what wasn't shipped. Maybe they've changed since then, but IMHO there's nothing in the catalog woth the trouble.

I didn't know Atkins had a magazine. Is it a good magazine? That Atkins batter sounds like what I'm looking for! I have made chicken fingers with the bake mix. I soak the chicken in cream and a teaspoon of vinegar for an hour. Then I coat the chicken with 1 cup Atkins bake mix, salt, pepper, chilli powder, to taste, teaspoon of baking soda. I shake the pieces off and let them sit for 15 minutes, then I use a deep fryer. My kids and husband love them!
