Candida for the first time - Atkins induced?
Hi all
I've been following Atkins for about 4 weeks now. Although I've been pretty strict (keep my carbs down to around 20 per day), and haven't eaten potatoes, rice, bread, cereals, grains or pasta in that time, I've lost barely a few pounds.
The same week I started Atkins, I took antibiotics for an ear infection.
In the last week I've developed a burning pain on one side of my vulva, which appears to also have a white coating. I've never experienced anything like it before (I have absolutely no allergies, and answer no to all of the questions in DANDR on the subject), and although I've never had it before, could it be candida (thrush)?
If so, did Atkins contribute to it? And more importantly, could it be the reason I've had such a hard time losing weight? How soon after it goes does the weight start coming off in more respectable portions?
Although it's a very uncomfortable thing to go through, I'd happily endure it if I knew that when it clears up, the weight loss will start.....................
Thanks for any advice offered.
