Question Headaches?

I think I saw a post about this once but it was awhile ago. I've been getting headaches for the past 2-3 weeks and cant figure out why. I'm also in a bit of a stall for just over a week (I think because I've been excercising faithfully for 2 weeks daily). My diet hasnt changed at all and while I can deal with the stall (at least I'm prepared for another full week or so of my scale not moving) the headaches are getting on my nerves. With two little boys (5 & 2) who test their limits at every turn...a headache is not something I can tolerate regularly. Any ideas?

Tylenol or Excedrin work for me. I battle them too

Bummer...thought maybe there was something I could add to my diet that would eliminate them. Oh well...the excedrin works, I guess...was just hoping I could avoid getting them in the first place.

What kind of headaches are you experiencing? Does it hurt in front, right behind your eyebrows or cheekbones? How about in back, going down into your neck? Do they come at a certain time of day, or after a particular activity?

Depending on the source, there may be a long-term solution other than Excedrin. (I would guess it's not too good for you to take pain relievers often?) I have seasonal allergies, and without my allergy medication I tend to get sinus headaches right behind my eyebrows. Sometimes if my posture is bad at work, I'll get a tension headache in my neck and behind my ears. I've never had a migraine, but they have specific symptoms too from what I hear.

Or maybe you just have kids.

LOL Karin...yep the kids'll do it too!
Mostly...they are toward the front of my head...from the center of my skull forward to my eyes. I've had them on and off since I started Atkins and didnt know if maybe they could be attributed to a vitamin deficiency or something. I'm not taking any supplements right now.

Do you use glasses or contact? This was happening to me last month and I'm all better now that I got a new prescription on my glasses.

Yes...I wear glasses but my prescription hasnt changed since I was 16...weird huh? The other reason I tend to think it's not the glasses is that the timing was right in line with me starting Atkins...I dont know for sure though. Probably ought to make and eye appointment anyway...hubby could use one too.

I would have my eyes checked just in case, also your not taking supplements. These are very important so start them up ASAP.

I get headaches on the days that my carbs are a little low. Perhaps when you move to less stringent levels of your diet the headaches will ease up too.

I have done one change to my diet and was feeling good energy, but had a dull ache often in my head.. that I didn't necessarily call a headache if you know what I mean... and now I feel great.

I upped my fat.

My stats were 55-60% fat 35-40% protien and 5-9% carbs.
Now my stats are 75-80%fat, 15% apx protine and 5-8% carbs. I feel soooo much better! My head feels great.. I roll right out of bed in the morning, without snooze.. and sometimes w/out alarm!! I've never done that in my life!

On days that I have a really hard time getting my fat up I'll have 8oz diet soda w/ a few oz of heavy whipping cream. Is a tasty treat, although I must admit I had a hard time trying it the first time cuz I thought it sounded bad.

Hope it helps!
Carina
