Default Heavy Cream

Several of the brands I've found of heavy whipping cream state 0 carbs. I was skeptical, but upon visiting the local health food store, the owner assured me it had zero, zip none. I think it's similar to some beef jerky being 2 net and some being 7 net. I have noticed, however, that many people on this board insist all heavy cream is 1.

I personally am not too worried about going over one carb, but try to account for it by eating less of other things so my number is about right. What are your opinions?

Heavy cream is 6.6 carbs per cup. How big is the 'serving size' that has no carbs?

Read some labels in the store as many dairies add sugars to their cream along with guar gum, carageenan (seaweed extract) & other things to help it whip and stay whipped.

Heavy cream (accoring to Atkins) has .4g per tbs. I count .5g myself. Remember labels do not have to be accurate. It can say 1g and have 1.4g...it can say 0g and have .2g.

Actually, they can round 0.99 grams to zero. So, a heavy cream pack of 16 servings may contain upto 15 grams while its label indicates "zero carbs/seving".

According to product labeling guidelines ... a product may have no more than .5 carbs and be labeled as 0 carbs. Same for fat grams, etc.

So I use .5 for 1 T of heavy cream. I have purchased some that listed 1 gram on the label however.

Yes. Heavy = 35% That's the only one which can be whipped for a dessert topping.
