Default fish oil vs. flax oil

are these two basically the same or should i be taking both? i take flax seed oil two to three times a day and thought i was getting what i need....do i need both?

They are both good sources of omega-3 fatty acids, which our bodies really need. One or the other is highly recommended. I personally think both are a good idea, especially for a body being fueled by fat (as we are in lipolysis).

From the Atkins website:

Omega-3s are found in canola oil, walnuts, soybeans, flaxseed oil and fish, but those that are found in fish are known as long-chain omega-3s, which researchers suspect may protect against coronary heart disease. All omega-3s help to prevent hypertension, reduce triglycerides and relieve symptoms associated with autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.

Actually, the flax oil doesn't help my arthritis near as much as the fish oils do. It also didn't help my bipolar disorder but fish oil does. So I guess it might depend upon why you are taking it. Marty

From the information that I've read, there are a few more benefits to fish oil than flax seed oil.

I'm eating alot of fish, salmon mostly, so for me, I am getting the oil right from the fish
