Question Two questions from a newbie

Hello, all!

Just two quick questions:

1) anyone know how many carbs are in a pepperoni stick? I've been trying to find out on my own, but haven't had any luck - they seem to me to be a fantastic cheat, but maybe I should be careful....don't know the carb count (I figured because they were meat [kinda....lol], they'd be relatively low)

2) Cabbage - a no no? I love having coleslaw with my meat (I add mayo and sugar twin to shredded cabbage), but I think I remember reading that cabbage is off-limits. Can anyone confirm or deny? I think I'm going to cry if I have to eat another cucumber.

Much obliged!

Hi Supernova !

Your in luck ! You can check out the list of acceptable foods here if your doing Atkins. Cabbage is ok but instead of sugar twin try using Splenda. Equal, Sugar Twin and a few others have been known to cause a slowdown in some people.

I eat pepperettes all the time. Brands vary in carb count but the range is usually between .9-1.2 grams of carbs each. I personally eat 4 Pillars pepperettes a day to bring my calories up to the 1500 mark. So far no problems with the weight loss.

Have a good one !

The brand I buy..Schniders? is about 1.3 (original) for 3 sticks, yum. Don't eat them too often tho.

And cabbage? YUM! enjoy! Actually my MIL had us all over for supper, and my FIL who is following atkins, and she made lasagna with cabbage instead of noodles for us, was awesome!

Thats a great idea!.... Lasagne with cabbage in place of noodles... I would have never thought of that one... I bet its really good.

The next time I go grocery shopping I'll have to get what I need to make that.

But watch out for the sodium in the pepperoni sticks. They are quite salty and that can cause water retention even though you are eating the right LC foods to be losing.

Thanks for your replies! Dusty - hmmm.....interesting about the Sugar Twin. I'll have to ditch it in favour of Splenda. My loss hasn't been phenomenal, so I wonder if that's affected it. I also realized yesterday that Crystal Light - of which I've been drinking ALOT is made with Aspartame. Guess I'll have to kick that habit, too.

At least I don't have to give up pepperoni!!

Hey again !

If your looking for a soda that you can drink, Loblaws, Loeb, and Shoppers (among others) carries Diet Orange and Diet Cream Crush. 0 carbs and 0 calories. They are both sweetened with Splenda

Have a great day
Dusty
