Default Induction/ BFL question

Okay i started this challenge April 19th. I haven't been able to get my eating under control. I keep reading conflicting things in here. So if anyone can clarify for me I would really appreciate it Myy first week I did BFL eating by the book. But I started to gain so I switched back to LC. I read that we should increase our carbs if we're working out so I was using some LC products not on Induction but I feel like I"ve been cheating the whole time. My energy was really low the last two weeks so I think that means I need more carbs but with all the calories in LC eating if I'm not doing the strict Induction won't that make me gain weight? I'm very concerned about this because I can't seem to drop any weight. In January I did LC for two months without exercise and didn't drop any weight. Do you guys think I should try strict induction or do the 30-40 carbs a day while I'm training. My workouts are going good but like I said my energy is low. Maybe I should switch bach to the BFL by the book eating to get in more carbs but less calories. Somebody please help!!!!!

lc fproducts not in induction

I think this is a personal choice/YMMV issue. I didn't feel like I could work out with the necessary intensity on a strict low carb diet. Besides, I was LCing and stalled for several months. So when I started BFL, I added carbs to my diet in the form of fruits. Then I added some oats, legumes and the occasional sweet potato. I watch my calories so the additional carbs and higher protein replaced added fats like cheese and dairy. If you look closely, the BFL and Atkins/Protein Power maintenance diets are very similar so I felt fine moving in that direction. My daily totals tend to be around 40% P 20% C 40% F. I try to get most of my meals from whole foods rather than shakes and bars. I still haven't lost much weight but the inches are coming off and I know the weight will follow when the added muscle boosts my metabolism. I'm excited about the changes that are happening and I'm willing to go through an entire 12 week challenge before I try tweaking it too much.

This is an excellent resource for determing your caloric needs: http://www.hussman.org/fitness/

Good Luck,
Radar

Hi, I have stopped the atkins and gone back to eating normally, including carbs! I have put on a little bit of weight! Will I lose this excess weight easily by going on a low calorie diet? please reply!

Hi Laura,

Not neccesarily.

Do you know your body fat percentage?
Eating normally, post an example of a days eating.
Are you doing any training?

Mike

hi there

ive done few versions:

1) BFL by the book (low calorie) - i lost weight, bf% too

2) BFL mix with moderate carb/fat/calorie (i used some basic south beach authorized foods than using bfl's) - lost a lot of bf% n i was really pleased with the result n got so excited in front of my doctor that time LOL (during this, my carbs between 100g - 150g)

3) CKD style sorta, wasn't really working cuz 20g was too low for me and couldnt handle the carb-up (the confusions and the foods LOL). altho i didnt put on weight even after 36-hour carb up. on this one, i lost about 3.2lbs in 4 weeks, was bit scare of losing muscle there so i switched back to moderate carb bfl but i havent really upped the carb yet.

this week (bfl) im doing around 50g (moderate fat/bit more on protein) and i feel gr8 lifting. id up the carb if i feel like i had to.
